Vignobles Paul Jeune

Domaine Monpertuis Secret de Gabriel Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhône Blend 2010

Super dusty, would have pegged it for much older. Wet leather, cedar, and cloves. Tasty, but shouldn’t sit for much longer. — 2 years ago

Domaine Paul Pernot et Ses Fils

Bourgogne Chardonnay 2016

Nose has under-ripe papaya, pineapple core, cut yellow apple, nondescript white florals and dry sandstone.

Palate has ripe pineapple core, lemon zest, light vanilla, pear puff pastry, yellow apple peel with slightly chalky notes to the medium finish. Excellent.

Testing out our new Gabriel Glas stemware tonight; almost like a (tulip) Scotch glass with a stem, really concentrating the aromas and with a wider bowl it's almost self-decanting. This was a great bottle to test them out.

I've mentioned before, never pass up the entry level wines of serious producers, they are great values, as their quality should be spread across the brand. So I'll be happy to drink the Bourgogne of anyone who also happens to make a Bâtard-Montrachet.

Château La Fleur Cailleau

Canon-Fronsac Red Bordeaux Blend 2019

2019 vintage. Château La Fleur Cailleau, Canon-Fronsac. Bought in 1982 by Paul Barré (also Château La Garde, Fronsac) and managed these days by his son Gabriel and his wife Edith. Biodynamically farmed since 1990. Very impressive indeed, with an exemplary purity of fruit, ripe tannin and energetic acidity. Highly recommended. Abv. 14,5%. — 2 years ago

Vieilles Vignes Chassagne-Montrachet Pinot Noir 2016

Montrachet is still the best white on the planet, but is it worth the price difference from some really good Burgundy or Bordeaux options? This is great juice and not too pricey for a true Montrachet. — 6 years ago

Chassagne-Montrachet Chardonnay 2018

Minerals on the nose, with time in the glass more tropical citrus aromas emerge. More tropical fruit flavors on the palate. Medium bodied. — 4 years ago

Chassagne-Montrachet Pinot Noir 2010

Spicy nose with a hint of red berries. A little spice at first with some plum and raspberries after. Great wine and paired perfectly with marinated pork chops. — 9 years ago
