Moscatel(45%), Riesling (35%), and Semillon (25%), bush trained vines planted in 1922. 12.5% ABV
Pear, honeysuckle, lime. Fresh & clean.
Riesling is the most decipherable without knowing blend, the other two not so much. Nice wine, meets expectation. Good midweek wine. Love old vine wines. 97 Years old (2019)

Best BdeB I tasted, made from less than 2 acres Belles Voyes vineyard in Oger, vines planted in 1920’s, juice aged in old casks pre-bottling. Compare to those $350 boutique bottles! Showing 100-year old vine complexity, nice aromatics fine bubbles, tantalizing mousse, intense bouquet of ripe fruit. Creamy flavor of white flesh fruits, apple & pear, chalky mineral qualities, lemons with underlying sweetness. Elegant, well balanced, bright acidity, minerality, long tangy finish! Easy peasy old vine chard — 2 years ago
2018 vintage. Tasted two of the oldest estates in Bordeaux alongside (the other being Cantemerle 2018) and Olivier is the clear winner in the same price category. This estate has been on a hot streak for the last few years and it is incredible value at less than 40 euros. It's a very big estate (220 hectares), but only 60 hectares are under vine (52 Red and 8 white). Black and red fruits, spices and marzipan in the nose. Concentrated and layered, combining power with elegance, a serious ripe tannic structure and a long spicy finish. Highly recommended. — 3 years ago
Medium-light, neither particularly sweet nor dry (a nice ride), a bit of vine and soil. Overall, drinks French, but not heavily acidic or tannic; smooth. — 4 years ago
Lean, clean and juice old vine Pinot noir! — 5 years ago
One of the best from DFW so far. Buy again — 2 years ago
Nose has ripe black cherry, wet leather, distant wood smoke (spring vine burn), cherry reduction and dry garden soil.
Palate has tart cherry, under-ripe plum, wet slate, green herbs, lightly creamy oak barrel notes with mild tannins. The energy in this bottle seems restrained.
Decanted 6H, and this is not enough time for this youthful wine. This bottle will likely need a decade to concentrate.
The third of several 2014 La Pousse d'Or bottles we acquired late in 2019. This, as expected, needs another 10-15+ years (2031+) to show its truer self.
(Notes will be updated tomorrow, this wine needs much more airing out.)
24 Hour Update: Nose is black cherry compote, cherry jam, wet leather and dry garden soil persists. Palate is dried cherry/blackberry, wet leather and dried tart cherry. More accessible then yesterday, yet only years of rest will open this wine for full enjoyment.
48 Hour Update:
Nose is black cherry jam, cherry juice concentrate, dry crushed rocks with light acetic acid notes. Palate is loosing a few steps today, and gaining some tannins, dried cherry and dried green herbs, yet still interesting. — 4 years ago
2014 Fleurie Grand Pre 1.5ml bottle
Aromas of orange starburst, grape bubble gum and violets. Tastes of sweet black fruits and old vine sap. Amazing texture. 2014 vintage Beaujolais was like a dream throughout the region. The wines are perfectly ripened with nice acidity. I like the clean, pure, juicy style of this cuvée. Very dark purple color. What a tremendous value and fun wine to drink from magnum. This is a great wine to pair with many different types of food or soft creamy cheese. 6/28/20 — 4 years ago
