Heavy Pinot noir than expected but welcomed on the pallet. Fragrant and enjoyable to the tip of the nose. Full bodied. — 3 months ago
This is a fabulous sweet wine from Bordeaux.
Dark Golden in color.
Beautiful sweet nose of honey, yellow apples, apricots, honeysuckle, lemons, caramel, spices and white pepper.
Full bodied and bold, with high acidity.
Sweet on the palate with honey, citrus, tropical fruits, spices, lemons and brown sugar.
Long, long finish with citrus and limes.
This 8 year old still feels very young and concentrated. Nicely balanced with lots of acidity to balance the sugars. Tangy and interesting with a heavy mouthfeel.
Rich, yet elegant. Sweet and powerful. Creamy and bold. A delicious experience.
Good right out of the bottle and better with airtime.
A great vintage that shows its power. Already showing great complexity, but will age nicely in the next 50 years.
Decadent and delicious. A fabulous dessert wine.
13.5% alcohol by volume.
97 points.

Classic example. The oak is not as coconut and dill heavy and the fruit is a bit more forthright than some other Rioja producers. Nose of cigar red and blue berries. Palate of bright fruit with medium acid and tannin. Drinking well now, but this still has plenty, plenty of life. — 3 years ago
At over 20 years old, the 2004 Opus One is showing beautifully, striking a balance between maturity and vibrancy. On the nose, it opens with an inviting bouquet of ripe blackberries, cassis, and dark cherries, layered with subtle notes of violet, tobacco, and espresso.
On the palate, the wine is smooth and full-bodied, with fine-grained tannins and a silky texture that coats the mouth without being heavy. The core is rich with dark fruit—black plum, currant, and a touch of blueberry—balanced by earthy undertones and a whisper of leather. Definitely one of my favorites. — 4 months ago
2018 vintage. Decanted and tasted after 2.5 hours. It’s easily been a decade+ since tasting their entry level stuff. Medium/medium heavy body. A bit riper than expected. Haven’t come across those levels of ripeness on their higher end stuff in the last few years. Can see why some would absolutely love this tho. Missing structure that usually accompanies Hall reds. For such a big *ss vintage, thought there would be mas. Sadly, no. 11.7.24. — 10 months ago
Bold and heavy notes of woody herbs and raw meat on the nose mingle with deep dark black cherries and a licorice-like finish. — 3 years ago

2000 vintage. Mid-shoulder fill with top-notch cork. Decanted and tasted after 3 hours. Medium/medium-heavy body. Jello chocolate pudding nose. Chunky mix of dark and milk chocolate flavors in the frontal palate that picked up a hitchhiking, dark plum passenger in the mid-palate and cruised to the finish without any speed bumps. Tannins almost completely integrated. Smooth, rich, weighty, crowd-pleasing finish. Wanted a small, dirty dissenting opinion to further confirm the current harmony/vibe but none was forthcoming. So much life ahead. Zero rush to crush. 08.01.25. — 23 days ago
