Christmas Eve pop and pour appetizers. A majestic medium gold color. On the nose: subtle notes of candied lemon, banana, pear, buttered popcorn, honey. Taste: chalky-creamy, bright wine with lemon rind, saline, pineapple, brioche, mineral and a white pepper grapefruit finish. YUM! — 3 months ago
2022 vintage. This is going places. Classy and sophisticated in a medium-heavy body package. Nice mineral flourish on the finish. Vineyard planted in 2006. 400 cases made. Heritage Shot Wente clone. Unfiltered and unfined. The fruit was picked by hand at night so there’s that. 11.15.24. — 5 months ago
Golgotha - Scholium Project 2010.
Widowmaker Block Hudson Vineyards.
Abe, the man who would be king, gifted this bottle (amongst many others) to me after being an Intern in 2013. They travelled from Napa to London to Western Australia.
15 years later on a Monday night of a week I wasn’t meant to be drinking…
I pulled it out of the wine fridge in Margaret River. Cork fresh as a daisy and some decent sediment on first pour. Aerated with Vinturi and poured. Some early VA blew away and a Star Was Born. The floral powderiness on my mid palate is intoxicating. Never before have I tasted a big inky, 15% delicate ballerina like this. So glad I opened it alone so we can have a week together understanding each other. Has to be Petite Syrah. Wine study X 1000 ♥️ Pretty Pimpin — 7 days ago
Fireplace, wine and dark chocolate, tasting like dark fruit, black cherry with a bit oak. (Year 2018) — 4 months ago
Delicious #carneros Bordeaux-style blend. Big bramble fruit, leather and spice nose, drinks lighter on the palate than the 14.8% ABV and 80% new French oak would suggest; the whole package is well integrated from a difficult fire vintage, lovely spice on the finish. 84% #merlot, 13% #cabernetsauvignon, 3% #cabernetfranc — 3 months ago
Black cherries, light raspberries, a little graphite and licorice. — 3 months ago
