This is 12.5% and it’s so good. So complete. That 2 years of age adds complexity. Still lean but that richness of 18 shows through. But Johannes Aufricht knows how to maintain tension and acidity in a warm vintage.
Nose is a bit richer than the 2020. Mineral and stanky. Huge and expansive. Framing oak. Fantastic acidity. Ripe and tangy and there’s some fruit but it’s more about place and iodine and stunning purity. Wow. — 4 years ago
Stunningly tasty, heat-free jalapeño. Bottle emptied itself. — 5 years ago
Had 2018 from Chambers on 10/2/20. Good band aid, blackberry, banana. Taste and texture more cherry juice. No tannin, but that’s the style—clean, bright, fresh and yet full. Laura gets leather and cedar. — 6 years ago

Spent the afternoon in Mosel at the gorgeous new Selbach-Oster tasting room with Barbara and Johannes Selbach. Every single wine they opened was incredible. Bright, balanced and beautiful from the Troken to the off dry and even the old late harvest Johannes treated us to. We will return and we will continue to drink these specific wines from this region. — 7 years ago

Bright, concentrated hazy lemon yellow with flecks of marigold.
Very fragrant, with aromas of elderflower, dried apricot, unripe yellow peach, lychee, honeysuckle, red apple skin, sage, preserved lemon, candied ginger, white grapefruit, and almond skin, which carry through to the mouthwatering palate.
A complex intersection of floral, stone fruit, saline, and savory notes, this is a show-stopping wine and an incredible value at $30 retail. It’s dry and lightly tannic, with tangy acidity and a long and evolving finish.
I had this on its own and it was delightful. I’m certain it would be a fantastic pairing with a whole bunch of different dishes and cuisines, but I kind of feel like it deserves to be savored alone as the star of the show. — 4 years ago
