Mid crimson in colour. Lovely Cabernet aromas with a trace of blue fruits and a hint of violets. Very balanced and harmonious on the palate. Elegant. Plenty of flavour intensity and only 12.5% ABV. Tannins are fine but persistent. So balanced almost nothing stands out - the characteristics of a lot of great wines. Will cruise on to its 20th birthday and beyond. At my Chardonnay Challenge of 6 wines with very close scores the Heytesbury finished 6th. I still gave it 95 points and a Gold Medal. HH said “powerful grapefruit and citrus - Gingin/Mendoza clones and 97 points “. A semi regular annual purchase for me. — 3 months ago
Medium bodied, light acidity, a little dry. Bouquet opens up to notes of dark berries, plum, leather, liquorice, tobacco. Well integrated tannins. Pleasant to drink! — 11 days ago
A beautiful top shelf Margaret River Cabernet drinking well at 16 years of age. Deep Ruby in colour. You would never know it was that age from the colour. My 2nd last bottle. A blend of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Malbec and 1% Cabernet Franc. Trademark herbaceous notes with mulberry and spice. 2008 was a hot and dry vintage in Margaret River. Severe winds at flowering drastically reduced the crop to the lowest yet recorded - under 1 tonne per acre. Shelley Anne named after Stuart Watson’s wife. Stuart is the chief winemaker and one of the owners. — 2 months ago
Couldn’t pick the bay leaves, sorry. 2019, drunk in 2024. Really nice drinking right now, feeling it will be awesome in another few years. Will try and get a case of this vintage. — 2 months ago
Pale straw . Lemon and lime with some petrol hints ,green herbs , white flower notes as well . Light bodied with high acidity , green apple , lime and grapefruit . Very fresh , high acidity , leaves the palate very fresh , lively . Touch of fresh green herbs on the ok length finish . Would prefer to leave this 2 or 3 years , just to fill out a little more in the bottle and will last well a further 10 or so . — 6 months ago
Very similar comments to the 2018. This is in the top echelon of Aussie Chardonnay. Just beautiful! 😍👌🏽👌🏽 — 24 days ago
Winner of the James Halliday Chardonnay Challenge from 680 entries in 2014. See previous Delectable note. Those modern leesy, flinty, struck match and smoky notes have come together nicely at 11 years of age together with nectarine. Delicious - sadly my last bottle - wish I had a few more. Yet another great producer of top quality Chardonnay from Margaret River. — a month ago
Typical nose of an Art Series Chardonnay with that dried pear character. On the medium weight palate a nice combination of ripe grapefruit and under ripe yellow peach. Medium minus acid. One can’t help but love this Chardonnay. A wonderful terroir, the Gin Gin clone, great winemaking, and an excellent vintage - ticks all the boxes. At its peak but enough acid for a few more years if you wish. That was my last bottle of the 2011. — 2 months ago

My last bottle of 2015 Woodlands Chloe. Quite restrained - very well made. Everything in balance at 9 years of age. Last bottle we had was in early 2023 - matched with the 2015 Leeuwin Estate Art Series Chardonnay and some tasters preferred the 2015 Chloe. White peach. Not too lean, not too full bodied - perfect balance - a “goldilocks” Margaret River Chardonnay. Woodlands is better known for its stellar Cabernet and Cabernet blends but also makes this fine Chardonnay. — 14 days ago
