Stagecoach Vineyard Her Majesty's Secret Service Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

Even at 2 hrs after cork pop and a lazy man's bottle decant, quite a bit of this wine still taste like a barrel sample. The nose is youthful blackberry, blueberry, pencil shavings. Entry is a ton of youthful and herbal blackberry cassis. Graphite. The middle has a hint of dark baking chocolate and spice. Toasted youthful berries. Finishes with a lot of toasty oak tannin. Probably one of those integrated wines I have had from Pott. Just delicious. — 7 years ago

@Mark Flesher : Had the 2012 about a month ago and it took the entire evening before it came around. Wish I would have held onto it a little longer. The 2009 sounds fantastic.

@Bryan Kesting it was really just dumb luck and fortunate positioning at Classic. This was behind another wine in the tube that I thought was something else. When I pulled it out and saw it, I thought it would probably be drinking rather well. Did not disappoint! :)

Lazy Susan Ranch

Diamond Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

The Vineyardist 2nd label.
This one surprised me by how much air it needed to open up. Had a splash on day 1 and immediately corked it back up for a day 2 decant. Definitely not an over extracted Cabernet just to please the masses. My ratings might be higher than others but I work these wines to get the best out of them.

Interesting note I found-

The Vineyardist is a Diamond Mountain property with a long history. In the late 19th century it was purchased by a Dutch shipping captain who planted vineyards and made wine. During prohibition the vineyards were replaced with nut and prune orchards. In 2000 the property was purchased by Dirk Fulton and Becky Kukkola, who began replanting some of the 80 acres to vineyards.

I am a big fan of their main label (and argue it’s one of the most beautiful visits in the valley). Prices have gone out of my range but always enjoy the wines.

Quite a few on winebid tomorrow, I didn’t realize they have more than just one main high end label now.

Pinot Noir

First enjoyed with Dave Roesler at Luna in 2017 or 18. It was $70. Found it for $20 this winter of 2022 at Lazy Acres and shared with the Hidegs. Also amazing — 4 years ago

Château de Pressac

St. Émilion Grand Cru Merlot Blend 2015

Delicious Christmas Day Bordeaux. Modern style with higher alcohol and loads of dark fruit. Deep rich red in the glass and lively aromas of fruit, leather, oak and vanilla. Palate is vibrant and layered, initially bold but smoothing out in the mouth. A little acidic early on but an hours air really settles this wine down. Very enjoyable and perfect to enjoy over a long, lazy day. — 6 years ago
