Stone, lime and honey. Sunshine. Nice round smooth balance. Repeat. — 5 months ago
Nose: salinity, flint, lemongrass, green apple. Palate: lemon curd, lemongrass, key lime, crushed stone, saline. Very good complexity, intensity and finish. 7 years in the bottle and still lots of zippy acidity and freshness. Less food friendly than my other favorite chardonnays. — 8 months ago
The 2020 Beaune Clos du Roi 1er Cru has some reduction on the nose, tightness, and broody at first, though it opens after ten minutes of aeration. I like the fruit profile here, which is wild strawberry and cranberry polished by oak. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy, ripe red fruit, again, very polished by the new oak, detracting from the typicité. But it is a Beaune predesigned to seduce, and you cannot deny its cashmere finish and fresh figgy aftertaste. Charming. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. (Neal Martin, Vinous, October 2024)

A French burgundy that tastes like a California Pinot (sorry). Cherry, but tannic. — 7 months ago
The 21’s here are masterful. Nose of late season black cherries, late season red cherries, earth, mineral and more. Blueberry and blackberry as well. So deep and expressive. That’s 21! Palate is teeming with energy and juiciness. Sour and red cherries and glorious silky tannins and lovely sweetness. Long and flowy. Needs time but just spectacular. So much finesse now and the fruit is all red now. — 8 months ago

What a value! Grenache driven CdP, both dark and red fruits, tobacco box, herbs. — 7 months ago
Fresh, crisp, minerality, citrus, stone fruit like apricot; no oak, it’s my perfect every time every day wine ; slight slight smokiness, could almost taste the gravel ..the vines were grown in the silex soil — 8 months ago

2013 vintage. The Premier Cru "Clos du Roi" (or sometimes spelled "Roy") is considered by many the best vineyard in Mercurey. 2013 was a challenging vintage in many respects, but this is delicious. Intriguing nose with coffee beans and cherries, intertwined with floral and herbal impressions. Very fresh in the mouth, with juicy sour cherries, subtle spices, and a slightly rustic tannic backbone. Very good length. No signs of fatigue, I wouldn't be surprised to see this holding up well for another decade. Abv. 13%. — 12 days ago
