This 16 hectares Pessac-Léognan vineyard ( 13 ha of red, and 3 of white)was just bought by the Domaines de Moncets group, which is moving to the left bank for the first time, as they already own Moncets and Chambrun in Lalande de Pomerol, La Bastidette in Montagne Saint- Émilion and the Saint-Emilion grand cru La Voûte. It seems that they won't have to start from scratch, given the quality of this 2022, with black cherries, blackberries, and Pessac-Léognan spiciness. Impeccable balance, concentration, purity of fruit, and serious complexity at this price point. Nice licorice finish. Great value, and an estate to watch. Abv. 14,5%. — 15 hours ago

2019 vintage. From the owners of the excellent Moncets and Chambrun estates in Lalande-de-Pomerol. Just one hectare of 100% Merlot in the Montagne Saint-emilion appellation ( at 750 meters from Cheval Blanc as they state on the website). Don't expect Cheval Blanc quality though, but it's also 50 times less expensive. Anyway, this is a great value. Attractive nose with cherries and violets. Medium-bodied, well balanced, with ripe cherry fruit, spices, and more than decent length. Hard to believe how cheap this is. Contrary to common belief, Bordeaux features some of the best values in the world. Abv. 13,5%. — a year ago

I have opened the 2010 Château Calon Montagne-Saint-Emilion. A blend of 80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc.

On the nose I am getting black cherry, blackberry, black plum, black currant, herbs, tobacco, licorice, chocolate, spice and earth.

On the palate there is nice dsrk fruit, black cherry, blackberry, plum, black currant, bay leaf, licorice, herbal notes,graphite and earth.

This wine is medium to full bodied with a supple mouthfeel, medium+ acidity and medium to medium + fine supple tannins that leaves you with a long dark fruit earthy finish. Have a great week ahead and please be safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 5 years ago

Beautiful sample from St Emilion! Very young, but gave way in the decanter after 2+ hours. Cherry, tobacco and a hint of herbs on the back pallet. Will be good to try this again in a few years. — 8 years ago
