Montagne Saint Emilion Controlee

Château Pontac Monplaisir

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2022

2022 vintage, 84% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 6% Cabernet Franc. This 16 hectares Pessac-Léognan vineyard ( 13 ha of red, and 3 of white)was just bought by the Domaines de Moncets group, which is moving to the left bank for the first time, as they already own Moncets and Chambrun in Lalande de Pomerol, La Bastidette in Montagne Saint- Émilion and the Saint-Emilion grand cru La Voûte. It seems that they won't have to start from scratch, given the quality of this 2022, with black cherries, blackberries, and Pessac-Léognan spiciness. Impeccable balance, concentration, purity of fruit, and serious complexity at this price point. Nice licorice finish. Great value, and an estate to watch. Abv. 14,5%. — 15 hours ago

@Stefan Dolhain Have the 2019 on the wine list. Picked up a few cases for less than $20 USD a bottle. Rocking juice for the price with good depth/nice complexities. Will keep a eye out for this vintage. Cheers!

Château Notre Dame

A dry lush, if there is such a thing! Good tannins, medium bodied, decent complexity. Razberry, cherry notes. Earth tones. Would buy a again! (Habeeb 4.2) — 5 years ago

Château Bertin

Montagne Saint Emilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

Really nice nose. Very interesting on the pallet. Starts out with a lot of dark fruit and finishes with quite a bit of tannin. A little more than usual but not off putting it all. — 5 years ago

Vieux Château Saint André

Montagne-St. Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

I also have a weak spot for Pomerol’s and right banks from St. Emilion. This find delivers on that Merlot inspired approach. Subtle. Expressive. — 5 years ago

Château La Bastidette

Montagne Saint-Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2019

2019 vintage. From the owners of the excellent Moncets and Chambrun estates in Lalande-de-Pomerol. Just one hectare of 100% Merlot in the Montagne Saint-emilion appellation ( at 750 meters from Cheval Blanc as they state on the website). Don't expect Cheval Blanc quality though, but it's also 50 times less expensive. Anyway, this is a great value. Attractive nose with cherries and violets. Medium-bodied, well balanced, with ripe cherry fruit, spices, and more than decent length. Hard to believe how cheap this is. Contrary to common belief, Bordeaux features some of the best values in the world. Abv. 13,5%. — a year ago

Château Calon

Montagne-St. Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2010

I have opened the 2010 Château Calon Montagne-Saint-Emilion. A blend of 80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc.

On the nose I am getting black cherry, blackberry, black plum, black currant, herbs, tobacco, licorice, chocolate, spice and earth.

On the palate there is nice dsrk fruit, black cherry, blackberry, plum, black currant, bay leaf, licorice, herbal notes, graphite and earth.

This wine is medium to full bodied with a supple mouthfeel, medium+ acidity and medium to medium + fine supple tannins that leaves you with a long dark fruit earthy finish. Have a great week ahead and please be safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Beautiful sample from St Emilion! Very young, but gave way in the decanter after 2+ hours. Cherry, tobacco and a hint of herbs on the back pallet. Will be good to try this again in a few years. — 8 years ago

Château Coucy

Montagne Saint-Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2011

Yummy. It's yummy in every way. Rich mouth filling red berries with beautifully balanced tannins and more than a hint of Oak. Drank a bottle over three days and it was a different experience every time... From pleasantly round with a fruity acidity to deep and mouth filling st. Emilion oaky greatness. — 9 years ago

2012 Montague St Emilion - Bordeaux ammazingness. Smooth as silk, cassis, flowery undergrowth if that makes sense but that's what it smells like? A hint of wet stones on a rainy day. Perfect Friday BDX — 5 years ago
