Saint-Pierre Chablis Chardonnay 2022

Bright lemon color with aromas of citrus, stone fruits and nutty flinty floral notes. On the palate flavors of apple, pear and citrus with floral notes and herb spice. Medium+ finish, vivid acidity ending with citrus and stony mineral spice. Nice!

Les Champlots Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Chardonnay 2015

The one Burgundy in my lineup of 6 Chardonnays. Grapefruit/Citrus, some flint - not as smoky and sulphidic as the Giaconda. I thought some tasters might have thought the Giaconda was the white Burgundy (all tasted blind). 35 year old vines. Quite fine. — 2 months ago

Thanks Andrew. Australian Chardonnay has been steadily improving for some years now and these are some of the best. A noteable omission was the Cullen Kevin John where I didn’t have a 2015. I do however have a 2007 which is stunning. Saving for 2027 when it is 20 years old.

Château Saint-Pierre

St. Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2010

Opened about 30min before service; enjoyed over the course of several hours. The 2010 currently pours a deep garnet color with an opaque core; medium+ viscosity with significant staining of the tears and some signs of sediment. On the nose, developing with dark cherry, blackberry, plum, raspberry compote, pencil lead, licorice, mint, forest floor, tobacco, green bell pepper, cocoa and fine baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin, medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and slightly bitter. The nose is the star with such a complex perfume; I could spend the entire night with my nose in the glass. A lovely Fourth Growth. Drink now through 2040+. — 3 months ago
