Rich yellow in color with a golden hue.

Fruity on the nose and medium in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with nice complexity.

Showing ripe citrus fruits, yellow apples, light apricots, spices, light cedar, earth, herbs and white pepper.

Long finish with lemons and light spices.

This 9 year old Napa Chardonnay is drinking beautifully now. Rich and fruit forward. Juicy and entertaining. Alcohol is nicely integrated by now.

Elegant and nicely balanced. Complex, engaging and good right out of the bottle.

Drinking at its peak, and will continue to drink nicely in the next 5 years.

Good by itself as a sipping wine.

This is definitely one of Zynsy-wynsy and my favorite wines so far. Has a subtle sweetness that adds to what we like most about other SBs like Wairau and Southern Right. Only reason this doesn’t get higher than a 9.5 is that there are still so many to try and I’m sure there’s room to grow. — a month ago

This wine is colored yellow-gold. I found the nose to be strange, with apple, pear, and nectarine aromas up front, followed by an odd scent of vanilla and butter. It has a hint of the smell of the butter offered on popcorn at the movies. The palate gives the fruit center stage as well, with oak notes a bit more prominent. The acidity is nice and the mouthfeel is full. It's not a wine I will seek out in the future, even though I rather like buttery Chardonnay. — 4 months ago

Double decant for sediment and pour. A splendid still dark tawny red color. On the nose: expressive notes of stewed blackberry/plum, worn leather, musty forest floor, truffles, mint. Taste: silky, elegant, savory wine with dried strawberries, leather, cedar, earth, and a peppery chocolate espresso medium plus finish. YUM! Still delivering like a champ at 45 years and glad to have a couple more bottles — a month ago

Magnum from winery in early 00s. Perfect color and big, deep aromas of cassis, horsehair, menthol & sage and vanilla oak, A polished feel (new oak). Just smooth & effortless, hardly any tannin on the finish. No sediment! Shows liveliness of its younger years, big sweet fruit and slight alcohol (like old whiskey). Stunned it kept in perfect condition — 2 months ago
