Light gold; fascinating nose that’s floral, a little minty, mineral and dusty, yet it’s not really open; citrusy palate is mouth-coating with an herbal aspect adding to the distinct minerality. Spiciness really came thru on day two. (At Le Maufoux, again not a local listing.) — 4 years ago

Super saline and mineral pallet/nose give this grüner intricate interest. I suspect some would argue there is some fruit, but I'd disagree...well maybe except for honey, which is not a fruit :). We unfortunately had it at too high a temp, a sacrifice to Irma braking our fridge's chiller (and my patience). Live long and prosper 🖖 — 9 years ago
2013 vintage. Decanted and tasted at room temps 1.5 and 2.5 hours after said decant. No sed. Golden, honeyed, mead nose and flavors along with a splash of incidental and transient citrus baggage. Rays of acidic sunshine still (surprisingly) coming through with intensity. Lengthy exeunt. Dayumed delish for a decade+ old white Burg. Can go forth and prosper in this stead for approx 4-5 years. 03.07.25. — a year ago

Do not overlook this small producer in Santenay, he is amazing and sells out quickly. This is beautifully balanced wine with oak, white flower, lemon and acidity. So elegant. @ Maufoux in Beaune — 6 years ago

Started out weak and ungiving. Thought it would disappoint. Gradually it gathered steam and by the two hour mark it was just rocking and rolling, an amazing dense balanced nuanced fabulous bottle of wine that blew away the 04 DRC Richebourg next to it. Stunning wine. Sous bois and mushrooms hidden behind dark fruits, smoke and a little bit of minerals, I was blown away. — 9 years ago
2012 vintage. Medium body. Subdued nose with just some slightly tart, dark cherry afoot. Some frontal spice box married to that tart, dark cherry and a light muddiness (¿word?). Back end/finishing richness makes an appearance for a spell. Nicely made. Not overwhelming (nor underwhelming) for CA but should go forth and prosper for another 5-7 years at this level. 02.09.25. — a year ago

Last night I opened the 2018 Los Vascos Cromas Cabernet Sauvignon Gran Reserva. A Domaines Barons De Rothschild-Lafite from Valle de Colchagua, Chile. A blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Syrah and 5% Carménère.
On the nose was black cherry, blackberry, plum, mint, black currant, herbaceous, chocolate and earth.
On the palate there was black cherry, blackberry, black currant, baking spice, black pepper, chocolate, graphite and dusty soil.
This is a full bodied wine with a smooth plush mouthfeel medium+ acidity and medium + fine tannins that has a long dark fruit crushed gravel finish. A very nice wine and great QPR. Please enjoy the week ahead and try and be good friend. Stay safe and healthy and we will prosper innthe week ahead. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 4 years ago

Gold, sour yeasty on nose, smoky, toasty, gingerbread, doughy, 5% 2009 vintage and 95% 2010 vintage, 7 yrs on lees, full body, round. Perfect as aperitif with complex dishes. A bit of sugar/dosage to soften... — 8 years ago
