2001 vintage. Margaux made at Durfort-Vivens selected by The Wine Society. A very good effort with still a solid colour, nice fruit and flowers, a gentle medium-bodied Margaux from an underrated vintage. — 3 years ago
I’m alive in the glass. Feels like such a good comment. Upon opening it was kind of closed off and a little bitter and tight and didn’t have much of anything and I was worried. I got a bad bottle. Give it 30 to 45 minutes of air and life spring into it. Fresh and youthful of flowers and a little chewing ass of a lean steak with pepper and spices. And then it developed more with the tightness of the structure slowly, giving way to crushed fruit and more floral, violet and rose, smells and flavors. After three days open, but kept in the fridge it has more of a crushed dried flowers again with the violet and the potpourri, muted plum and still a crushed red fruit. Delicious very very delicious. — 3 days ago
2019 vintage. I had very little experience with Durfort-Vivens before, but today's tasting was extraordinary. The grand vin 2019 is stunning, concentrated and elegant at the same time, with an incredible purity of fruit, and haute couture tannins, culminating in a very long finish. Well worth the money. — 6 months ago
2018 vintage. 85% Cab, 10% Merlot, 3% Cab Franc and 2% PV. One of the highest % of Cabernet Sauvignon in this wine that I can remember. 14% ABV. Tapenade, smoke and ripe, dark plum nose. Medium body. Softens up somewhat on the finish. Wine (and not just this vintage) occasionally drinks like 2nd growth Durfort-Vivens in Margaux with Mount Eden Vineyards having slightly more body. I need to compare the last three vintages of each all together. Spooky. 4.20.23. — 3 years ago
2010 vintage. Decanted and tasted after 30 minutes and 1.5 hours. Light-medium/medium body. Silky, supple and supremely beautiful-for Bordeaux. Regal closure on a lengthy finish. So much attention to detail without it being overtly obvious. Exceptional beauty and a fave, cutting edge BDX producer-along with Durfort-Vivens in Margaux to taste the possibilities of the region. For Pauillac, nearly as gorgeous as Pichon-Lalande...a very close second. This was so stunning. 12.5.25. — a month ago
2019 Le Hameau. 53% Cabernet Sauvignon and 47% Merlot. First vintage of this parcel selection in the commune of Cantenac, aged for 16 months in amphorae (2/3) and barriques. Le Hameau stands for finesse, whereas Le Plateau (in Soussans) delivers more power. — 6 months ago
Fantastic. Very deep, mature: leather, smoke, tobacco, oak. Very dry, high acidity. — 3 years ago
