Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon

Delicious, full and smooth. Maybe a bit young but my kind of cab. Full and lacking any annoying intensity abrasive tannins. Would never d&d on this one — 3 days ago

Reserve Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 1986

from Magnum

Double decant for sediment and pour. A remarkable still dark purplish garnet with bricking. On the nose: still captivating areomatics of stewed red fruit, worn leather, herbaceous, pencil shavings, eucalyptus, cigar wrapper, funky earth. Taste: silky, soft, savory, mature wine with just a hint of blackberry, currants, earth, dried herbs, mocha, and a smokey pepper/tobacco medium finish. Sure, on the downside, but if you like savory aged Napa cab this still works tonight.

Twin’s 8th Birthday Party!

Solid, good fruit, a little harsh on the palate. Classic bell pepper present with more oak than I was expecting.

Les Vaucrains Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2012

Popped and poured for Thanksgiving dinner. No V.A detected on nose or palette. Had with non-traditional Thanksgiving dinner of duck cassoulet, and it was a wonderful pairing. Lovely initial cherry notes on the palette followed with anise, woodsy herbs, and hints of leather with nice and smooth mouth feel. Tannins are well-integrated. Finish was long and beautiful. — a month ago
