Deep purple color. Aromas of cassis, blackberry, earthy tones and herbs. Blackberry on the palate, earth and a hint of vegetation. Very tasty cab.

Mount Eden Cabernet clone from the old Cinnabar property. Most people don't know this clone has Château Margaux origins. This cab and the Mount Eden Estate (and the old old Mount Eden Reserve Old Vine d.1992) with those Margaux subtleties on dry-farmed slopes? Uhh duh. Sign my ass(ets) up posthaste.

Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir 2021

2021 vintage. Vacillates/alternates between polished and rambunctious. Lots to like on both sides. Acoustic or electric guitar? You get both. A tremendous length of finish. Was going to pick up a case of the 2015 vintage of this (9.3) but this is drinking even better. Decision time...4.27.26. — 19 days ago

I do enjoy their Pinots. Sometimes, more than their cabs & chard. Solid producer.

Good Pinot!

Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

2019 vintage. Oak attack if served above 65 degrees. Def essential to get that temp down to the 55-64 range so as to conduct pleasant conversation. Otherwise, it’s just screaming/noise. Previous vintage exhibited the same tendency whereas 2017 and before generally didn’t (to this extreme). Hoping it’s not trending that direction but suspect it is. Some splendid complexities once past the rapids. Medium-heavy body. 4.22.26. — 19 days ago

Black Chicken Napa Valley Zinfandel 2017

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.

Sweet nose of black fruits, cedar, vanilla, licorice, spices, chocolates, tobacco and black pepper.

Full bodied and elegant with medium acidity and long legs

Dry on the palate with black currants, plums, cooked cherries, light cedar, licorice, chocolates, coffee, light earth and peppercorn.

Tangy finish with fine grained tannins and cherries.

This 9 year old Zinfandel from Napa Valley is drinking beautifully now. Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel, complex and entertaining.

Drinking at its peak, and will continue to drink nicely in the next few years. Tangy and spicy, rich and inviting.

I had this vintage 7 years ago, and it is drinking much better now.

Wine Enthusiasts 91 points.

Good right out of the bottle, and good by itself or with food.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

$50.

Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Post dinner party notes. Third bottle I’ve had of this and by far the best yet. Amazing. Such a complex nose, with roasted herbal notes, dark spicy fruit, earthy mineral iodine notes Tannins just about completely resolved. Length and depth for days. Wow. — 13 days ago

Interesting. I might have this wine as well. I seem to recall it was so super oaky, couldn’t taste anything. Glad to read that it became more balanced.
