It’s my favorite Riesling. Inexpensive, very fruity, very balanced, very nuanced. I’m currently drinking the 2015 vintage of this wine.
Note to the Editors:
The Vinyard is in BADEN, not Mosel, Saar or Ruwer.

Nose is minerals and apricots. Almost like a silky beauty to the nose. Very hard to describe. Almost nectar like. Like a wind blowing across a mountain lake that has apricot trees on its shore. You get those apricot flowers. Like perfect peak apricot flowers.
Palate is delicious and so juicy. Apricots. Minerals. Peach. Silky texture.
Some sweet minerals on the finish. Dried peach and dried apricot extract. Really beautiful elegant coherent blend of the minerals and elegant fruit. Finish is terrific.
This is really a wine of elegance. Nothing really jumps at you. It’s not huge in any way. Like great chassagne Montrachet made in the mosel from Riesling.
A hard wine to score. On pure elegance and balance it’s a 9.6. On its individual elements a 9.2. I guess I’ll split the difference.

13 year old Kabinett at Müllen is just starting to enter maturity. Nose is pillowy and dense. Some citrus and herbs. Also slate. Palate has perfectly judged sweetness and is a true Kabinett. Mouth-filling, juicy with loads of citrus and pear fruit. Long and slatey but also impressive how stacked the fruit is. This has 20 years to go. But it is irresistible now. Müllen is the best. — 8 years ago
