Rieslings from around the world tasting. My first Riesling from new zeland was incredible. This was the cheapest of the tasting but voted the best. I normally hate strong petroleum notes but it was integrated with the fruit and other flavors so well. Old vines, organic, and biodynamic vineyard. — 6 months ago
Golden hay color. Citrus, peach, vanilla. On the palate-hints of oak, buttery, nutty. Balanced, not overtly rich. Medium acidity.

An excellent Martinborough Pinot Noir. Rich and luscious like an Otago Pinot but not as overt as Otago usually is. Red and Black cherry with restrained whole bunch influence. Balanced French oak. Craggy Range is based in Hawkes Bay (the winery is a great spot for lunch!) but they were smart enough to establish their Te Muna vineyard in Martinborough - a much better terroir for Pinot Noir. Bob Campbell MW nailed the brief by saying it “delivers power with consummate subtlety. “ A point or two off for a ridiculously heavy bottle. — 5 months ago
Cattail creek wine dinner. Characteristics of pencil lead, tobacco, black cherry, and liquorish. The palate has a lifted acidity and spicy tannins but don't obscure the fruit expression. Paired with petite ribeye en persillade. — 9 months ago

Lovely inexpensive Sauvignon Blanc with a nice mix of grapefruit and lemon, and a fragrant perfumed nose. A great value at $20. — 6 months ago
