Every year the pop and pour drinkability of this blend gets better! This year the blend is 60% Mourvedere 25% Grenache and 15% Syrah. My appreciation for the less common primary grape varietals has escalated by Monte de Oro’s wise blending and aging techniques. The nose is slightly shy. The palate is a pleasantly unique balanced combination of fruit and earthy components - with a touch of lingering spice. A near perfect balance of juicy acidity and soft tannins that makes this approachable for most. — 2 months ago

Exceptional on opening. Nose of dark berries and spice. Palate with complex of spiciness, juiciness, black cherry, blueberry, blackberry, & plum. Balanced low intensity tannins with lingering finish. — 2 years ago
Close your eyes, and you’d never guess this was 12 years old. Lovely. — 3 months ago
Another wonderful Tempranillo from Ron Yates Spicewood Vineyards. Enjoyable — 8 months ago
Monte De Oro seems to be finally dialing in their Cabernet. The bottle says 80% Cabernet, 10% Petit Verdot and 10% Malbec. Barrel aged 40 months. On opening it was so very drinkable with layers of complex flavors. The tannins were surprisingly smooth and slightly on the sweeter side with spice, raspberry and strawberry with maybe some dark cherry and chocolate - and it was medium to full bodied without being dense. The finish was smooth. Three days later it transformed into a mellow earthy - almost mossy texture of an old world Italian Sangiovese or Nebbiolo.- based wine. Fun bottle. — a year ago
