Here’s a curveball. It opens up to soaked wet corn notes and evolves to plush red fruit on the palate; good backbone, firm tannins, full bodied, high alcohol, big, bold and yes, (Malbec) is bigger (when made) in Texas. — 2 years ago

Visiting Fredericksburg TX for a few days. This is TX hill country and has a big winery community. Never tried any TX wines before but found a few surprises here. We tasted at Becker earlier today but not this wine. $30 on the restaurant wine list. Becker wasn’t our favorite stop but it is the only local winery represented on their list. Overall local wines seemed overpriced compared to CA wines. Just realized we had an older vintage (2018) on our last trip from Houston to Anaheim. It’s interesting that most of the grapes used in the local wines come from Lubbock (panhandle) area. Don’t know where these grapes came from, or what varietals are present. — 5 years ago

Young and fresh but showing many of the Dolinsek’s traditional traits: a big nose of blue and black fruits followed by a fruit forward wine of the same. It’s got bright acidity and firm tannins with a hint of black olive and pepper deeper in the wine. Drinking well now with loads of potential. — 6 months ago

OMG was this good. Surprisingly accessible in its infancy. The wine is clear and light colored red with very mild tannins. Loaded with dark berries, both the sweet and acidic side. As it got a bit more air, the 65% Zin in the blend showed through with delicious jammy-ness. The rest of this shipment go in the cellar for a least a few years.. — 6 years ago

This 12-year-old Domaine Jean Dauvissat “Heritage” Chablis — popped and poured — is still drinking quite well, maybe not quite at the level of the 2014 Premier Cru bottles, but with the solid acidity, still very nice!! I just found 4 bottles in my cellar, and had no idea they were still there!!
@Lyle Fass, if you see this, other than reassuring me of my abject stupidity for burying these in a box with 1985 Raveneau Grand Crus (these were on the bottom, WTH!?!?), I’d love to hear any thoughts you might have on this wine!! — 2 months ago
