2019. From a hunting lodge, Jed nu depopp. Côtes du Rhône. Aroma of raspberries, round jam on palate, red bean with acidity and tannins at the end. Gernache, Syrah. — 3 years ago
Beautiful full deep medium gold… surprising for such a young white wine. Enticing bright aroma of spring flowers and juicy dripping ripe orchard fruit. Every once in a while you run into a wine that just knocks you back a step.. this is such a wine. Rich, ripe, round, weighted, serious, lip-smacking good, complex, alive, smile-inducing, with a finish that makes you want to pour a glass for everyone you know. We consumed this wine with extremely well-made takeout Indian… Tikka Chicken, warm spicy Chana, and downright hot Lamb Vindaloo… this elixir stood up to the hodge-lodge and made it better. I need to buy this wine by the case. — 4 years ago
Lovely medium bodied white with a fair number of legs. Subtle notes of floral on the nose. Pears & apricots on the fore palate followed by soft but distinct minerals, and finished with whispers of citrusy lemon - lime. Enjoyed it with Tim at Tarpon Lodge on Pine Island (seafood & filet) — 5 years ago
Amazing white, perfect soft finish! From lake tekapo lodge — 7 years ago
A little smoky. Raspberry, blueberry, strawberry. Medium-length finish. Very smooth. Lighter than expected, but very good with the Flint Oak Lodge elk dinner. — 7 years ago
See previous note 120 weeks ago. This was fuller and more luscious than the 2017 Mate’s Vineyard had a month ago. This had more peach and melon than the Mates. More opulent and very easy to enjoy. Perhaps the Coddington is the most opulent of the Kumeu River cuvées. I will have to try an old Hunting Hill to compare. — 3 months ago
Love love love this wine! Wonderful petrol on the nose, and such zippy racy acidity to balance the full fresh mouthfeel! Get some spicy Thai food and open this: that’s good living. — 7 months ago

Best Chianti I’ve ever had!
Smooth, little bit of smoke, ask, mild sausage/pepperoni. Wonderful compliment to any Italian dish or smoked meat. Hunting for this in a wine shop! Had at restaurant — 7 years ago

Turkey Day in the Dells. Some deer hunting to boot. — 7 months ago
Pale to mid crimson in colour. Lovely aromatics covering the spice spectrum, red flowers, mushroom, and herbs. A beautiful sweet spicy earthy palate. Elegant with underlying power - alluring. A very polished Pinot Noir. One of New Zealand ‘s best Pinots and not readily available in Australia but worth hunting down. Very impressive and great from the Zalto Burgundy glasses. Could be a Premier Cru from Vosne Romanee. — 5 years ago
Light but complex. Tasted raspberry and cocoa. Really enjoyed this. Super approachable. — 6 years ago
This is the wine we choose every single time at Jiko at Animal Kingdom Lodge. It's abt a $50 bottle after Dianey's markup. It's not something I'd buy to drink at home. — 7 years ago

This is the 2019 Hunting Hill, same vintage as the recently tasted Kumeu River Coddington. The Coddington remains the more opulent of the Kumeu cuvées. A mouth watering salinity. In this one. As Bob Campbell MW said, this is a Burgundian style (lacking the stone fruit of the Coddington). Although several previous vintages of Mates Vineyard have proved, at least to my palate, that it is the premium Cuvée. — 3 months ago
