Quilceda Creek

Washington Cabernet Sauvignon 2010

Excellent wine but comes in 2nd in the night of our 2010 Cabernet showdown. 90 min decant and the wine was very good but was missing some of the dark fruits that make this wine pop. Paired very well with the steak — 11 days ago

Grgich Hills Estate

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Just a baby. Raspberry compote. Blackberry, black currant, licorice, and mocha. Acid, tannin, and fruit working in beautiful harmony.
Alcohol stands out at 14.6% and it’s expensive, which both drop the rating. Organic farming.

Domaine Drouhin

Dundee Hills Pinot Noir 2022

Burgundian notes, earthy but with notes of black fruit and even some strawberry. 1 hour decant definitely helped it open more. — a month ago

Quilceda Creek

Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

2021 vintage. Tasted via Coravin. So. Much. Sweet. Oak. Much less concentration, mineral influence and grip than expected/recalled from previous vintages. Granted, tasting this 15 years too youthfully but, still, underwhelming. Honestly, a total waste of my time. Hurtz to say that as I consider this as one of, if not THE, best WA wine made. Just never rocked the boat, in a positive way, in any aspect. Would get totally blown out in a blind CA/WA/BDX Cab/Cab blend tasting in the $40-$50 range. Unimpressive. 5.29.24. — 8 days ago

I opened a 2000 a year or two ago and thought “this is too young”…the oak still so pronounced.

Exquisite gold color. Insane nose! Minerals, beeswax, and subtle honey. Same on the palate. Oily, dense texture, which I love. This is right in my wheelhouse! I could swirl this in my mouth all night! — a month ago

Cayuse Vineyards

Bionic Frog Walla Walla Valley Syrah

A garnet-purple color and expressive nose with that initial Cayuse funk and notes of red berries. smoked meat, herbs, bark and dusty like minerals. Taste: beautiful silky and soft feel. Red berry fruit stands out with gamey meat, iron & bitter chocolate notes and a metallic medium, plus finish. Was looking forward to opening this 2016 again and it did not disappoint! — a month ago

Ten years on, starting to settle down. Still some bacon notes that work with burgers, but no new magic. — a month ago

Chateau Ste. Michelle

Columbia Valley Riesling 2022

This wine has barely any color at all, just a very faint yellow-green tint. The nose is nice. There is a slight trace of petrol, which I always love to find in a Riesling. More dominant is a lanolin note which joins a light floral aroma. The palate straddles the fence between dry and sweet, offering up some tasty stone fruit and a savory side marked by gentle spices and a workable acidity. I would like a drier wine better, but I drank this quaff gladly and poured another. — 2 months ago
