Bionic Frog Walla Walla Valley Syrah 2019

Deep purple in color with a short purple rim.

Nose of blueberries, black plums, black currants, coffee, licorice, spices, dark coffee, pencil lead, earth and herbs.

Full-bodied with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with black currants, black plums, cherries, blood notes, light cedar, earth, herbs, chocolates, barnyard, light vegetables, light tar and black pepper.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a delicious Syrah from the Rocks District in Walla Walla Valley. In your face kind of wine. Rich, extracted and complex. Nicely balanced and elegant. Interesting stuff.

Good right out of the bottle, and better after a couple of hours of airtime.

This 6 year old Syrah is drinking beautifully now, and will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years. Would be nice to revisit it in 5 years and see how it evolves.

A great sipping wine that also paired nicely with a big piece of steak.

13.5% alcohol by volume.

This rocked! Refined yet complex. 1hr+ decant. Dark red color. Dark, sweet cherries on the nose. On the palate it reminded me of Pontet Canet and Gargiulo. Fairly big, deep wine. Ample sweetness = dessert in a glass! — 23 days ago

The Velvet Devil Washington State Merlot 2022

Haters gon' hate. This is one of my go-to grocery store picks. It's super cheap ($12), and it tastes like Merlot.

@Dave no hate! Your grocery store selections are better than our mass production wines in QC! Thank goodness for Costco!

This was awesome! Lovely darkish gold color. Aged apples to start then popcorn and subtle butter with more air. Very deep, thick wine. Well balanced and refined. — 3 days ago

Estate Red Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2015

#AgedWineTuesday

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.

Fruity nose with red fruits, chocolate notes, spices and tobacco leaf.

Full bodied with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with sweet raspberries, cherries, plums, light oak, chocolates, peppercorn, light earth and herbs.

Long finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a delicious Cabernet Sauvignon based Bordeaux blend from Walla Walla Valley. Rich and extracted. Fruit forward with lots of red fruits and chocolate notes. Tangy, complex and interesting.

This 10 year old still feels younger and vibrant. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years.

Feels like the Merlot and Petit Verdot are very dominant, and the alcohol is nicely integrated by now.

Drinking very nicely right out of the bottle, and good by itself as a sipping wine, or with food.

A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Aged for 22 months in (70% New) French Oak barrels.

14.8% alcohol by volume.

Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

A popular US import here in Zürich, at least with my family. Had it many times, very consistent. Solid Cab, very bold and fruit-forward, a little syrupy, some red licorice. Some haters on Delectable, but it never let me down. Very grill-worthy with plenty of smoked meats. — 8 days ago

Bloom's Field Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir 2018

First up, this is made by Master Sommelier-Raj Parr & his business partner Sashi Moorman. I studied for my Sommeliers test one day with Raj.

Second, this is one of few Santa Rita Hills I like. Most are over extracted for me. IMHO, many drink like Cabernet-Pinot blends. This is not. It is more Burgundian in style.

The 2018 is starting to come around. It shows some nice evolution & integration.

Lush & ripe entry of; blackberries, dark cherries, both plums, strawberries, black raspberries, raspberries, cranberries, dry herbs are bountiful, mid, dark spice, a touch of smoke, grilled meats, moist clay, limestone, dry top soil, some menthol, eucalyptus w/ bark, mid berry cola, red, dark, blue & purple florals for days, excellent round acidity, nice; tension, structure, balance & elegant finish that lands on spice & softened earth that lasts nearly two-minutes.
