N: lots of brown spice, Rhubarb, walks in the woods over fall leaves, brown sugar, a bit of pepper. You could huff this a longgg time.
P: Luscious going in, Big bright cherries and mineral,sapid, really sticky but not sweet, nice acidity, tuck some away if ya got.,Should be an ager. Better on day 2, more fruits, less cinnamon on the nose.

@Delectable Wine this is the 2016 Family Reserve but not Ashe.
The 2016 Spoto Family Reserve is packed with power and youthful exuberance. I was honored to be able to give this one a drive today. This wine was popped and sampled, slow-oxed for 6 hours, and then decanted for another 2 hours. This definitely woke up this monster and got it going. This is a red-fruit dominant, full-bodied behemoth that will stay for 20 years in your cellar. Lighter violet pour with a clear meniscus. The nose of this wine is amazing, and the poured sample really wasn't tasted for 2-3 hours because I kept coming back to the nose on this wine. Smells like a pastry shop around the holidays and has a touch of a wildflower garden if you huff this one long enough. Tne entry of this wine is dominanted by black cherry, red currants, red licorice, bing cherries, red-hot spices, cinnamon, hint of fig. Very bright acidity and loaded with tons of power throughout. Finishes with young oak, stiff but punchy tannic character, tapping you on the shoulder and saying "Yeah, I'm this good now, but you should come back to the others you bought in a few years." @Delectable Wine this is Pedro's Block Malbec. .. It was not in the DBase.... Spent some time with this new 18 Vintage of Spoto's Malbec from Pedro's Block. A delightful, very youthful wine that will appreciate quite a bit in the next 1-2 years. The wine poured a ruby red / crimson into the glass. Nose was divided about 50% floral with lilac, jasmine, and rose petal and balanced nicely with sweet red plums, red candied applies. But, had a very volcanic kind of quality to it. The deeper the huff, the more you started to get a faint background of herbs. The entry is medium+ to full bodied red-fruited wine. Under-ripe sweet youthful tart red cherries and red plums. As it sits on the mouthfeel, a cherry cola note develops and the herbal quality of this starts to show. Finishes with a lot of acidic character, and fair amount of tannin. After a couple of hours, almost a graham cracker note came into the picture. This is not your purple fruited malbec, it is WAY more interesting than that. But I think the best is yet to come. Optimal drinking 2022-2032. Rating today is 90+, with potential for 93/94 in the next 3-4 years. — 4 years ago
Very fresh & quite herby, with great purity of fruit (plums, blueberries) but also some nice earthy and tobacco & vegetal notes. Polished tannins and nice balance with freshness and a wide huff of menthol adding lightness to the ripeness. This is quite modern but also authentic and very drinkable. A nice wine. — 6 years ago

Granite flowers and animal funk/leather on the nose. A wine you could huff all evening.
The palate rewards with opulence, but never treacly, red/black fruits, granite, gentle tugging at your cheeks. I think it’s ready to go but some yrs. wouldn’t hurt. It lingers on your lips lonnnggg.
