Beautiful nose of earthen scents, mid season cherry fruit, wild flowers, alpine grass and some sort of umami scents. Seems like it has more to give. Palate is fresh as a daisy with crazy energy and superb dark cherry fruit that really sticks to the palate. Terrific finish that clamps down. Awesome. A new value Pinot from Ziereisen’s Swiss project. Deep and ripe tannins and a lovey rusticity as well. Gorgeous minerals awash the finish along with loads of black cherry fruit. This is fantastic wine. Gets very chewy with air. But man the fruit here is extraordinary.
@Delectable Wine made a mistake. This is Riehen L’Unique Pinot Noir. Thanks. — 3 years ago
One of the best Swiss Pinot Noirs. Just a stunning stunning example. Nose is all woodland berries, mountain spice, insane florals and sweet herbals and unreal mountain cherry. So alpine and floral. Captivating and enveloping aromas. Plum skin as well that is so so fine. Stunning purity, breadth and detail the nose. Enchanted forest floor aromas. Keeps changing and changing. Just stunning. 9.6 or 9.7 on the nose. Smell like Grand Cru Burgundy. ZOMG the palate. Insane fruit and sweetness. So sweet and so intense. Wow. Mid to late season red and black cherries. Just so elegant and pure. Suave and chewy but silken tannins and impossible length. Just sickness. So long. Endless. Sappy and noble. There is a very serious and substantial structure here. This is truly amazing wine. Better than the 15. Needs air and I’ll be back. 9.6 for now.
After air the texture on this is truly stunning. So velvety. Amazing sweetened and no hard edges. Nose has so much Burgundian sous bous now and really is in Clos Vougeot territory. Brilliant. An elite wine. This is very close to a 9.7 but not quite. Only age is holding it back now. — 4 years ago
Nose: elegant. Fresh cut hay. As it opens mountain air.
Palate: seashells. Lemon zest. See t minerals. As it opens gods lemon juice.
Needs air. 44 minutes.
As it opens. Salivatory. So good. So distinctive.
This is an iconic Swiss wine. It’s up there with great burgundies. But so different.

Nose is floral with integrated richness. Expansive. As this opens you get the godspice. So penetrating and expansive. Elegantly rich. Mountain air infused with Chardonnay. Ocean air. Bit in a good way. Like you are watching the sunset on a cliff with a light breeze.
Palate is lovely rich fruit. Delicious. Good minerality. Almost a mountain meursault feel. Terrific crunchy acids as this opens. Oyster shells
Still a hint of oak. Should dissipate in 6-12 months.
Man this is a beautiful wine. It’s its own thang. Nothing exactly like it. Could be a higher score in 2 years.

The nose is just the most incredible thing and if the palate wasn’t so delicious I’d be smelling this cider till the pigs come home. It’s smokey. But smokey in a smoked applewood type of way. It’s got green apple, red apple, and the aromas are mostly green and red apple skins and not the flesh. It’s not floral but has that same floral effect a floral red or white wine has in that it’s expansive and has a bouquet but these “floral” aromas are more like leaves. Fresh, gorgeous leaves. It’s so uncanny how complex this nose is. The nose also has hickory and iodine and I yelled out “This!! This is what would happen if you made Puligny Montrachet from apples!” I was so proud of myself. It’s got that Puligny iodine, sweet hazelnut thing and a kind of florality from the combo of apple skins and leaves. It’s just insane. After maybe 25-45 minutes of air this develops some quince, apricots and spice aromas that only add to the allure.
The palate is so juicy. I mean this is juicy and delicious like nothing else. It’s so explosive and just bursting with the purest green and red apple flavors one can imagine. It’s absurd. Nearly religious experience as you cannot comprehend how apples can be fermented into something that is at once contemplative and also insanely delicious. It’s delicious like ice cream you cannot stop eating. There are few wines like this and even fewer beverages. It’s so pure and so refined with just incredible finesse. The palate has these amazing candied apples that I have never experienced before in my life. These candied apples in this cider have to be tasted to be believed. There are also flavors of brioche and sourdough bread. There is a hint of sweetness but it’s like the sweetness one gets when one bites into a ripe, juicy perfect mid season apple. This is so so juicy and so clean. I mean this is as clean as any beverage I have ever had. The finish goes on forever and ever and finished with spice, complexity, green apple skins, green leaves, hazelnuts and iodine. This is absolutely bonkers cider — 9 months ago
Graves meets Switzerland. Love this wine. Pungent nose of mystifying alpine scents. Greengage, grass, hay, wild flowers. Some grapefruit. Yellow not pink. Such purity to the aromas. Smells like you outside in the cleanest Swiss field ever. Palate is massive, concentrated and so pure. Tiny berry fruit intensity. Fruits are apple, apricot and some gooseberry. So textured. Rich but light on its feet. Great acids and structure. Long finish. Grassy on the palate as well with such distinctive minerality. This will likely benefit from 2-3 years of age. — 3 years ago

Fresh as a daisy with 9 yrs now of age. No notes; gorgeous crushed red fruits & a savory edge, good structure too. Delicious. — 3 months ago
