Memorialis Pinot Noir 2018

Parents in town and I opened something different. This has a beautiful bouquet of flowers on the nose. Dark cherries and baking spices. Nice acidity. This is a big Pinot that probably needs another 3 to 5 years to really shine, but is drinking extremely well now. — 3 years ago

The best domestic PN in the price range, by a long mile. But don’t take my word for it. Tell me what’s better…
Merry Xmas, peeps!

Serraboella Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2015

Takes a bit to open up, but well worth the wait. Elegant and soft textured. Pretty feminine- rose petals, button mushroom, sour cherry. Will definitely benefit another 5 years bottle age. — 3 years ago

Venezia Giulia Pinot Grigio 2020

Enjoyed this Pinot Grigio. Wrongfully wrote off this grape for quite a while. the Italian grapes are so different from the US! Astringent lemon pith, bright, and effervescent on the palette with notes of green apple, wildflower honey, melon, & pear. Lemon juice aroma. Would definitely buy again, picked this up for $18 at Costco. — 3 years ago

Xisto Cru Douro Branco 2017

Multi-varietal blend, majority Rabigato. Lemon, orange and stone fruit on a tornado of minerals. Long finish, complex and luxurious. Reminds me of good loire chenin. — 3 years ago

Westside Road Neighbors Pinot Noir 2019

Talk about pop and pour perfection! Paired with skillet grilled cowboy pork chop topped with Bosch Pear, baby carrot, blue cheese and drops of Aceto Balsámico di Modena IGP. Cheers. @Ron R this may be a contender. — 3 years ago

Domaine de la Bongran

Cuvée E.J. Thevenet Quintaine Viré-Clessé Chardonnay 2016

Tried 14,15 & this 16.
16 fits my palate the best since it has more acidity,
I’ll take this over any $100.00 plus California Chardonnay

Antoine Bouvet

Extra Brut Champagne Blend 2014

Pale yellow with effusive minuscule bubbles. Highly expressive aromas right out of the gate with toast with a dab of honey and smoke. Apples abound initially upon opening. Very pretty, delicate citrus notes of lemon zest and apricots. White grapes and really inviting spice. Dried fruit comes back with a warm embrace.

I’ve talked glowingly about these Bouvet champagnes before and will continue to do so because he just does not miss. The last vintage he made with his grandfather and though it’s oh so young, it exceeds expectations. Tiny production because most of the grapes are sold to Bollinger. Zero dosage so the terroir speaks clearly and the zippy acidity is pure. Composed of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from Avenay Val D’Or, Bisseuil, and Mareuil sur Ay and disgorged in early 2020.

Very inviting in the mouth. No dosage isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but this is so warm and generous. Vibrant and engaging with orange and apricot notes. Toasty bread and hazelnuts along with chalk and sea spray. Exquisite minerality. These are exciting grower champagnes that seemingly only get better.
