Another young one. Chocolate brownie and s’mores, with a coffee marshmallow. Rich vanilla bean creeps in, and warm plum jam that mysteriouslypowders atop pumpkin bread full of the usual spices aromatically. Grape-y, with grainy tannins, first skin of a dark red apple, red incense, cherry skins, lipstick with crispy beef and black soils. The final notes boast oak and blackberry, with cinnamon stick. Per advice from my trusted Delectable peers, I let this #californiacab breathe well over an hour. Really lovely cassis and bramble fruit on the nose. As of now it seems to lack weight on the palate to match that promising aroma - good base of cocoa and some cola, fruit forward character, hints of vanilla from new oak but it’s not excessive; the tannins are faint but starting to taste some juicy acidity. #wsjwineclub — 5 years ago
