Brunello di Montalcino

Half bottle. Forest berries. Blueberry. Brown sugar. Mineral.

Half bottle. Tad corked. Hard to assess.

Fragrant, fresh (!), and balanced. Bags of cherries and cherry syrup on the nose, with dry, stony-gravelly notes. Pure intense dark cherry fruit and dark minerals in the mouth. Concentrated yet with terrific acidity and youthful but soft tannins. This will improve for at least 5 more years but is really nice now.

This wine sings. Heavy notes of peach, candied but not sweet. This has a lingering finish that is sophisticated and deep and it is going to continue to age into a wise old gentleman and woo the young ladies. So smooth with all the right moves.

Best nose of the day. Strawberry preserve, which is so decadent. This has grace and poise on the palete. Less power, and more finesse. Drinking now, but best left and allowed to unfurl.

Showing extremely well in its youthful state

Going well at 10 years on with more life and goods to give. Another example of producer > than almost all else. Altesino continues to be a great producer that I’ve enjoyed regardless of riserva, montisoli or non-riserva and vintage.

Really really enjoyed this as it's been ages since we've had a Brunello. Went well with Truffel pasta

Slight cassis and cedar nose, sweet sour fruit, in a good spot now! Just the ending should have been a bit longer for a higher score. Nevertheless, superb wine
