Ex Umbris Columbia Valley Syrah

Covid crisis austerity... got this for $11.25 - 20%. It’s an introverted pro wrestler. Looks like it can fight but never really gets going.

Brambly blackberry and blueberry nose and palate with earth and black pepper notes. Medium to full bodied with good acid and a long, black fruit finish.

Vanilla, oak, stewed blackberry.

Nice for the price, but underwhelming in complexity. Violets and concentrated black fruits power through the palate but tertiary characteristics are lost. Pop music of the wine world; what everyone likes, but not the best thing out there.

Youthful and going through an awkward phase. Good concentration and structure with a lot of wound up black and blue fruit. A weak finish is concerning #syrah #washington #columbiavally #exumbris

Tight aromas of smoky meat. Soft and smooth flavors meaty dark fruits.

This is a rich and voluptuous syrah from Owen Roe. Full of black fruit and the right amount of spice. Delicious on opening but got even better with a little time in the glass. Highly recommended.

Tasted in December 2014: Pink peppercorns, cocoa, blueberries, plums, and silty earth.
