Happy to try this Santa Barbara Cab from Happy Canyon! Not as murky many Napa Cabs can be but just as intense. Still too young.

A restrained and old world style with nice aging potential. The nose was well integrated but lacked defining characteristics for me. The palate was ripe with firm but round tannins and present acidity. Graphite along with just ripened black fruit. The beginning.... Silky texture, balanced, concentrated, richness on finish with remarkably integrated tannins. And still young!

Nice Cab Sauv with just a bit of Cab Franc and Petite Verdot added. Herbs, tea leaves, dried cherries and tobacco on the nose. Cherries and dark berries on the pallet. Nice and dry. Good value. Drink now or hold.

Great big Cab! Hints of tea, tobacco and dried dark fruit on the nose. Coffee and blackberries on the pallet. Lingering tannins. Controlled and balanced. Drink it now or lay it down for later.

Star Lane is the sister vineyard to Dierberg. Great mouth feel with light tannins reminiscent of a mid 90s example. Blackberries, cherries and vanilla. By no means cheap, but I find it to be an amazing value.
