Supply and demand. First vintage "Special select"was 1975 they produced 180 cases & it was released at $22. By 1981 the production had increased to over 1000 cases. The 2012 there was a little over 18,000 cases made. They obviously source from dozens of vineyards across Napa. Greg will be able to tell you a lot more about that. In the last three months Chuck did a massive tasting ... his favorites are(who cares) 92,94,99,02,03,06,08.

Good idea of recorking it and letting it sit for a day. I don't think I would have done that. Next time this happens to me, I'll try it. Cheers

Yes @"Odedi". When I tasted it, it was giving up very little. I remember thinking that it was going to take all night to fix it, so I just said screw this and left it in a cool place for the day. I have some other Italian and Aussie wines where the need 24hrs, so I didn't flinch.
