Valdadige Pinot Grigio

Divine. Light, crisp. The perfect pairing (and cook-in) with our salty caper risotto and sundried tomato chicken dish tonight! — a month ago

Yes yes yes — so bubbly & refreshing. Great dessert & bath wine. Satisfying pop since it’s sparkling. May b my favorite moscato yet — 9 months ago

Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2021

Happy to find this on the shelf in NorCal. Still love the Cotta, but this takes me back to Barbaresco in a whiff. — a year ago

Cuslanus Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Corvina Blend

I was pleasantly surprised that we hadn’t held this 2015 vintage too long; it was ready to drink. Velvety smooth, perfect with any red sauce Italian dish. — 3 years ago

Montersino Barbaresco 2020

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The 2020 from the Montersino MGA in Trieso pours a brilliant garnet color with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of Morello cherry, red flowers, exotic spices and gravelly earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. Delicious pairing with mushroom farrotto. Drink now through 2040.

Barbaresco Cottà 2020

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The 2020 “Cottà” pours a light garnet color with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity and no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with pretty notes of raspberry and strawberry, rhubarb, roses, dried herbs, cool spices and dry rocky earth. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and delightful. The quality of fruit was outstanding. Absolutely delicious. Drink now with patience through 2040. — 2 years ago

Rosso Di Rocca Langhe Nebbiolo 2024

A beautiful garnet color, with a slight orange tinge. Cherry fruit, but dry with nice structure. 13.5% alcohol, so it feels a bit boozier than the lighter wines we tend to drink, but quite lovely. We ate it with a black eyed pea salad and ravioli with a celery leaf pesto, and it was totally up for the job. — 2 months ago

Ronchi Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2018

Delectable Wine
9.5

The 2018 Barbaresco Ronchi is another gorgeous wine in this lineup from Rocca. As always, the Ronchi is a Barbaresco of breadth and power. In 2018, those qualities are expressed in a decidedly understated manner. Wild cherry, plum, sage, tobacco and menthol are all kicked up in this super-expressive Barbaresco. Hints of orange peel, spice, star anise and sweet pipe tobacco grace the layered, exquisite finish. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, February 2022)
