Quite good, bought on a whim, surprised by its bouquet. Dry but hints of fruit — 3 months ago
Really loved this—been wanting to try this producer for some time. Bright, fresh, AND complex. Will look for this in coming vintages. 60th anniversary bottling. — 5 months ago
Sweet wines are normally not my favorite but I wanted to try this and expand my palate and I wasn’t disappointed 🙂 it has a nice flavor and is not bubbling at all. A good wine for a great price point which balances out the table. — 8 months ago
Pretty deep ruby with medium wide pink rim . Quite closed and mineral focused nose , with grafite , wet stone , dark cherry , blackberry and touch of toast . On the palate quite elegant dark fruits , with dark cherry , blackberry , grafite and cacao . Medium bodied with very fresh quite intense acidity and gritty , quite dry tannins . Medium length crushed rock and grafite tinged finish. This needs more time , better in 3-4 years and will last well a further 5-8 — 2 months ago
Other bottlings tasted more layered, I’d like to think, but for the peni-ultimate wine equivalent of salted caramel, this is it. Caramel not sweet at all,& the more fluid body from Palamino. Perhaps a tad too salty- but who doesn’t like salted caramel? 375ml bottle. Kinda cool how many deals are to be had in the Barbadillo line up. — 7 months ago
Had this wine at an Italian steakhouse. It was very flavorful but not overly dry. Would definitely order again — a month ago
She’s deep and dark, full of ink and dried blackberry, but there’s something playful here—this wine is quintessential perky-goth wheee you’re like “are they that morbid or is that a smile I just saw on the dance floor when Annie Lennox started playing”? Full of chocolate and dried and stewed berries but also fresh herbs. Par for the course 15% abv but that’s tame in Amarone-land. I like this a lot. Now making dinner so the 15% doesn’t have its way with me before there is food in my belly. — 2 months ago
Great example of what a Spanna from Alto Piemonte can be. Volcanic soil, traditional process and a great family. Red berries orange peel mint plenty of acid and low alcohol lightens the package. The bottle went empty quickly. — 8 months ago

The 2022 Pinot Noir Machado is a pretty wine with understated density and terrific balance. Dark red/purplish fruit, lavender, rose petal, mint, spice and blood orange fill out the layers. Machado is the most reticent of the vineyard designates. It will be interesting to see what time brings here. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, August 2024)
