Caymus Vineyards – 1858 Cabernet Sauvignon 2021
Napa Valley – California, USA 🇺🇸
Wagner Family Wines
Overview
The Wagner family, famous for their flagship Caymus Napa Cabernet, created 1858 as a more approachable expression of their bold style. Named for the year their ancestors settled in Napa, it delivers the same fruit-forward intensity but at a more accessible price point — crafted for those who want the Wagner experience without the flagship splurge.
Aromas & Flavors
Explosive layers of ripe blackberry, cassis, and black cherry wrapped in vanilla, mocha, and sweet oak spice. Hints of cocoa and licorice round out the lush fruit core.
Mouthfeel
Full-bodied, velvety, and rich, with soft, approachable tannins. Concentrated and plush, finishing long and bold with a wave of dark fruit and spice.
Food Pairings
Ideal with grilled ribeye, short ribs, or BBQ brisket. Also a decadent match for truffle mac & cheese or aged blue cheese.
Verdict
A bold, fruit-saturated Cabernet in classic Wagner style. Plush, powerful, and unapologetically crowd-pleasing — 1858 offers a gateway into Caymus’ signature richness, approachable and ready to enjoy now. 🍷
