Château Bellevue Gazin

Château Gazin

Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend 2005

A Merlot dominant (90% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc) right bank special from an exceptional vintage. One of the 1001 wines. More tertiary aromas at 20 years of tobacco and spice. On the medium plus bodied palate the wine shows great richness, savouriness and elegance. The following night aromas of pipe tobacco as I often get with right bank Merlot. So much inner strength with this wine which will carry it through to the early 2030’s. An interesting back story with Chateau Gazin :- A neighbour of Chateau Petrus. Gazin does not have the same power and weight as Petrus. The owners of Gazin also own Chateau La Dominique in St. Emilion, but to keep hold of Gazin they were forced to sell almost 12 acres of Gazin’s own vineyards. The purchaser was none other than Petrus and this sale robbed Gazin of some of its best parcels. — 3 days ago

@Bob McDonald, nothing quite like a great Pomerol, particularly from a fine vintage!!!

@Doug Powers I totally agree Doug. Also being a neighbour of Petrus doesn’t hurt.

Red Bordeaux Blend 2020

Really delicious wine. Deep flavor and incredibly smooth. Paired great with a burger, but it would probably paragraph with just about anything. — 6 days ago

Côtes de Bourg Red Bordeaux Blend 2020

I did not have high hopes for this one especially after paying $7.50. However, this is a well-structured wine! Very dark and really good. I wished I had bought more. — 5 months ago

Bellevue Morgon Gamay 2020

2020 Daniel Bouland Bellevue Cailloux Morgon - Gamay from Beaujolais. This is a medium to full bodied wine. Bouland wines are described as defiantly deep, dark, country-style reds with plenty of grip and overflowing with personality. These are wines that are built for the long hall, unlike so many of the region’s wines. I describe this wine as brilliant and delicious. This wine is drinking nicely even without bottle age.

Once again, Beaujolais because they can be deliciously beautiful. Casualness in a bottle with a touch of class. Also can’t beat the QPR on some of these, especially this one.

Schiste Bellevue Morgon 2016

These wines when young have felt dense - but at 9 years have shed some fat, with sappy but lively fruit and a tense, mineral energy — a month ago

Château La Caze Bellevue

Saint Emilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2022

Lush, full bodied Bordeaux at a ridiculous value. Dense but balanced. All the usual notes of blackberry coulis, currants etc but, man, just eye opening fruit that still feels old school. — 5 months ago
