Twenty year old Pinot only begins to scratch the surface at Billy Crews. The Man started his cellar and restaurant in the early eighties. In 86 he got WS Grand Award of Excellence, and till this day he is one of less than 60 restaurants in the world with the distinction. He’s got more stories I his back pocket than than your favorite novelist. Paired with NY Prime Steak and Billy’s stories. — 5 months ago
A blend of about 66% Pinot Noir and 34% Chardonnay, light Salmon color with aromas of berry and citrus fruits with floral notes on soft mousse. On the palate flavors of strawberry and raspberry, creamy with lemon citrus texture. Youthful, lively acidity, long finish ending with yeasty spice and mineral notes. — 9 months ago
From back when Mouton was still a Second Growth. Decanted prior to service; enjoyed over the course of several hours. This bottle of the 1966 pours a garnet color with significant rim variation; medium viscosity with light staining and signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of ripe and desiccated red and black fruits: cassis, blackberries, green pepper, tobacco, leather, old wood, organic earth and warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium. This was a good showing for the ‘66 and certainly has life left in it however, there’s no need to hold out. Drink now. — 8 days ago
Great Pinot. Matt liked. Nice and oaky and earthy. — 6 months ago
Cooler Shades of Pinot, 66/34 blend of Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris. Willamette Valley. Pale golden, excellent clarity. Floral and citrus aromas, good acidity, rich mouthfeel, stone fruit, citrus flavors, lemon and lemon peel finish with length. Very well crafted — 2 years ago
Lovely balanced mature grenache . Hint of cherries and dark fruit. — 4 months ago
Really wonderful. Love that there’s so much more to a the typical carneros notes here. Earthy with a little fruit but not much. — 6 months ago
See previous note from February 2023. A full bodied Margaret River Cabernet - cassis and herbs. This is really good. From the dress circle Wilyabrup area of northern Margaret river with neighbours like Moss Wood, Woodlands, Vasse Felix and Cullen etc. Barb said woody notes (not meaning oak influence). All the best Margaret River Cabernet attributes with the texture and mouthfeel of an excellent Barossa Shiraz. We both loved this wine. Have the last one in mid 2025. — 2 years ago
