9.5, almost 9.6. Gorgeous, beautifully knit Riesling. The nose is all pulverized rock dust, tangerine oil, citrus, salt and this airy confectionary minerality that keeps expanding with air. The palate is dense, chewy and mouth-watering, with fantastic freshness, beautiful delineation and electric inner-mouth minerality. Juicy, sappy and wonderfully complete, with that rounded 2023 texture wrapped around serious structure and a long, citrusy, rocky finish. Really impressive. — a day ago

i love this unfiltered rosé blend. it didn’t taste much like a rosé since it had a little more body than most rosé’s - more medium bodied. the lack of filtration gave it some nice texture. it does bright raspberry noted balanced by some gripping tannins. i am into this! i’d love to have again. i had at frog bar and haven’t seen this bottle before — 3 years ago

Gorgeous mature Marbach, showing a much more severe, mineral side than it does in youth. Sweet lime zest, pulverized rock dust, rock candy, wet moss, wild mint and a little porcini, with just a hint of secondary development beginning to creep in. Bone dry, dense, steely and incredibly mineral on the palate, with crazy 2016 acidity and a finish that feels like licking a rock. The confectionary Marbach character is still there in the inner-mouth aromas, but this is doing almost Domberg things now. Geeky, structured, terroir-driven Riesling. Could get to 9.6 with more air. — a month ago

If I’ve found a sweet spot it’s definitely value Kabinett Riesling - $15-$25. Show me another white grape this consistent and with complexity in this price range. Much thanks is owed to Terry Thiese and the Skurnick team for making wines available from producers like Jakob Schneider, Carl Loewen, Muelenhoff, Selbach-Oster, and Muller-Catoir. Each have a modestly priced Kabinett showing plenty of acid and explosive smokey citrus fruit. This week’s was Jakob Schneider - just off dry with flinty, flowery, ginger notes. Great for pre-dinner snacking. — 8 years ago

Gorgeous classic Nahe nose of white cherry, confectionary fruit, apricot skin, vulcanized rubber and a distinct slate-like note. The palate is ripe, round, pure and extremely juicy, with beautiful sweetness, a Riesling-creamsicle texture and enough tension to keep everything balanced. The acidity is clearly lower than in 2021 and the wine does not have that vintage’s superstar energy, but it gains freshness after the first sip and shows lovely elegance, finesse and concentration. Stunning. Nose is white peach, white cherries, apricot juice, caramel and more. So clean. So elegant. Palate is teeming with energy and sapidity. Juicy, rich and super clean. some bic lighter and graphite on the nose, tiny bit of burnt orange peel. super-slick viscosity medium-medium-light feel, cranberry-skin quick dissolve to black stalk vegetation and a kind of cherry-pit bitterness that is really pleasant. has that racy edge of a pre-release pinot, the barrel-tasted variety, or a super fresh gamay, and so good with food. great acid to tannin ratio. happiness for half this table! there is one participant at this table for whom the acid veers toward overly tart :P......no judgement. parked one more for comparison in a year or two. — 6 years ago
