One Sixteen Russian River Valley Chardonnay 2020

Pale golden color, complex aging, 34% new French oak-15 months, 30% stainless-4 months; 18% in Foudre for 9 months; rest concrete egg for 14 months. Aromas of stone fruits, oak, nuts, floral and spice. On the palate flavors of peach and pear with honeysuckle, integrated toasty oak and nice citrus tang. Long finish, ending with a wet stone mineral character. Outstanding! Will age well! — 8 months ago

After 30 minutes of decanting all of the sharp acidity rounded out & it is like a baby CdP. Great value wine. — 3 years ago

37.2 Cuvée Napa Valley Merlot Blend 2017

A delicious Merlot based Napa blend.

Showing black and red fruits with cedar, vanilla, leather, spices, earth, chocolates, tobacco, spices, peppercorn, coffee and mocha.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate and easy drinking with nice complexity and mouthfeel.

Good right out of the bottle and better with airtime.

Still young and would be better in 5 to 10 years.

A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc.

14.6% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

$80.

Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir 2016

Gevrey-Chambertin style Pinot Noir from Sonoma Coast. Strong masculine but elegant fruit to start with notes of smoke. Not fruity like many California Pinots but intense. Amazing value at under $40. — 3 months ago

La Del Vivo Bierzo White Blend 2021

Stunning. Delicious. One of my fav wines of the last 1.5 years. Godello aged under flor that competes with white Burgundy/ Sonoma Coast chards that cost double. Sourced from two tiny plots of 80-100 yr old vines. 80% old foudre, 20% amphora under flor, no malo, no stirring. Sunny bouquet, honeycomb, Asian pear, gun flint, crushed stone, brisk, seamless, cool and classy. $55. — a year ago

Lodi Assyrtiko 2023

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of two days. Better on Day 2. The 2023 pours a straw color with medium viscosity. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of ripe tropical fruit: pineapple, passionfruit, starfruit, lime, wax and minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. An awesome pairing with cedar plank salmon. One foudre, one puncheon and one barrel produced. Drink now through 2038. — 3 months ago

I had no idea that people were producing Assyrtiko in California. What will they get up to next?

Les Bouquinistes Napa Valley Chapter Four Red Blend 2018

My last bottle of this deliciously weird Napa blend. Nose has an olivey herbal note to accompany ripe cassis, and in that regard reminds me of some Napa Cabs from the 1970s when that was a (nice) thing. Also some warm gravel notes and a touch of subtle wood. Soft and mouthfilling, it’s got equal part dark fruit and savory notes. Great balance. Long finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, and Grenache, I believe. — 2 years ago
