I think this and the produttori langhe are the two most consistent entry level examples of Sangiovese and Nebbiolo, respectively. Both are $25 or less. Well worth it every year. 2020 vintage. Tasted with the winemaker. The "safe spot" in the current lineup. Verry approachable vintage for Barolo and this effort comes the closest to upholding usual expectations. Medium body. Some earth/dirt. Fruit apparent but not nearly the oodles cascading over the infinity juice pool as from this producer's 2020 Cannubi or Mosconi efforts. Structure solidly in place. Wow on day 2 after day 1 was via Coravin this is even better!

Much better this time around for me. More integrated and maybe the last bottle was slightly flawed. No signs of the funky notes the last bottle had.

Pure and classic sour cherry, leather, dried floral, and savory spice Sangiovese. Elegant on the palate, medium bodied with med+ flavors and persistence on the finish. — 3 months ago

Woulda picked up the last two cases available but recently committed to a few cases of another Barbera d'Alba that showed just as well. The 2021 Sangiovese Predappio is perfumed with an earthy tinge that perfectly offsets its ripe blueberry fruit. This is round and supple, with a classic feel, displaying amazing energy and a fine cut. 2020 vintage. Tasted with the winemaker. Last tasted 10.02.24 (9.1). This definitely picked up steam. Medium-heavy body. Occupying an interesting space in bringing some structure but more fruit/voluptuousness than expected from the region. Rated same vintage, same producer Cannubi effort a 9.5 but that was even more over the top. This has slightly more restraint and, priced at $90 a bottle resto cost, is better value. Wouldn't expect to age this vintage the usual 20-30 years for Barolo as it's currently a PNP. Would pick up three bottles...one for now. One to drink in 2035 and another to crack in 2050 for giggles. 02.07.25. — 2 months ago

Pours a copper-gold color that will immediately make you wonder if this has been oxidized, but apparently that's the style. Like their reds, they seem to turn everything up to 11 in Montefalco.

After decanting in the glass, aromas of toffee, white flowers, almonds, bitter oranges, and minerals. Very funky and interesting, but not something I'd hand innocent wine drinkers. — 6 months ago
