Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a few hours and alongside Foillard’s “Corcelette” from 2022. The 2014 “Corcelette” from Daniel Boulard pours a deep garnet color with a near opaque core; medium viscosity with moderate stain of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of wild strawberry, pine forest, Juniper berries, forest floor, hot asphalt, sage, leather, and rounded off by the smell of an old, cracked bar of Irish Spring soap from a basement shower. On the palate the wine is bone dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes on the nose. The finishes long and gorgeous. Rustic but beautiful and a brutally honest wine. Wow. Drink now through 2034. — 2 months ago

2020 Daniel Bouland Bellevue Cailloux Morgon - Gamay from Beaujolais. This is a medium to full bodied wine. Bouland wines are described as defiantly deep, dark, country-style reds with plenty of grip and overflowing with personality. These are wines that are built for the long hall, unlike so many of the region’s wines. I describe this wine as brilliant and delicious. This wine is drinking nicely even without bottle age.

Once again, Beaujolais because they can be deliciously beautiful. Casualness in a bottle with a touch of class. Also can’t beat the QPR on some of these, especially this one. — a year ago

Columbia County 2.0: interesting drinking this day after a German Pinot, as I found them surprisingly related. A fave Beaujo producer’s Morgon, also a cooler tone & elegant. Blackberries & cassis, darker berries and a fine grittiness to integrated tannins. I like this drinking window (6 yrs) but imagine several if not more left. — 2 years ago
