Jumping back into the pond with the Cayuse Bionic Frog!
1 hour decant. A marvelous deep dark purplish magenta color. On the nose: Inviting nose of dark fruit, herbaceous, smoked meat, slight "Cayuse funk"(luv it), chocolate espresso, bacon fat. Taste: powerful, balanced, savory wine with dark cherry, raspberry, earth, pepper, gamey, minerals, orange peel, and a nice medium plus finish. YUM!!! — 2 months ago
Dry red.
Has depth… I enjoyed. — a year ago
I have wanted to do this producer side by side with Alban with well seasoned Tri-tip. Tonight is the night.
The crowd that leans California liked the French better.
I have always thought Alban in the new world mimicked Rostaing’s style.
Both phenomenal and I enjoyed both for slightly different climate & soil reasons.
These two producers do Syrah without the heavy smoked meats & bacon fat of say Cayuse. — a month ago
Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of 90min. The 2020 pours a deep ruby/purple color with an opaque core; medium+ viscosity with significant staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of powerful ripe dark and blue fruits: Marionberries, figs, purple flowers, bacon fat, black olives, rocky minerals and soft baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. Young, but this is another lovely vintage of Chave Saint-Joseph. Give it time. Best after 2030 and drink through 2040+. — 8 months ago

Decant and pour. On the nose: red plum, sandlewood, bacon fat, floral, touch of leather, dried herbs. Taste: smooth, juicy wine with tart cherry, woodsy, minerals, cocoa, black pepper. Enjoying a New years dinner out tonight. Cheers and happy new year! — 3 years ago
