Nice fireside wine. Smooth! — 9 years ago

The 2014 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru puts in a convincing performance. With brambly red berry fruit on the nose, the coolness of the growing season allows the mineralité of this to really shine, with time in the glass revealing hints of autumn bonfire/fireside hearth. The palate is beautifully structured. It's saline with darker fruit than the aromatics. Quite linear and what you might call "vertical" in style, this is a superb expression of the Grand Cru that still needs a bit of time in bottle. (Neal Martin, Vinous, June 2024)

Rich, smooth with smoky, vanilla oak nuances - great fireside sipping #tawnyport — 7 years ago
Deep, rich nose - raspberry purée and baking spices stand out. Red forest berries with secondary cedar, bark, and tobacco flavors. A slight hint of alcohol on the finish, but impressively well integrated. Feels like a fireside, winter wine. — 8 years ago
Mathieu has taken over winemaking and has done a fabulous job. This was all bright mid red fruits with some hues of blue and soft earthiness. Fresh & pure wire to to wire and a really nice pair with Hedy’s amazing spicy pumpkin soup. @ Plate & Bottle. Photos of, those old narly Gamay vines, Hedy’s spicy pumpkin soup, Mathieu barrel tasting and a little fireside bubbles & cheese before dinner. — 9 years ago
Sultry, deep dark black raspberry, mocha, clove, and anise. Complimentary lifted eucalyptus, almost minty aromas too. Dark berry, French oak scents, tobacco, and black peppercorns dance on the palate. At 15.5% the alcohol doesn’t show, but this is rich and opulent. Perfect for a ribeye or fireside night cap. Drink or hold. — 4 years ago
Light sparkling with a lingering tart flavor and beautiful color with a nose like a sour beer, with notes of bubblegum and funky raspberry. Hella refreshing and Perfect for breakfast/brunch and paid well with Olympics!#breakfastwine #brunchwine #naturalwine — 5 years ago

Smacks you in the face with French oak - clove, nutmeg, vanilla bean, cedar bark. There is a richness to the oak, which mellows with air. Plum, blackcherry, and black raspberry fruit too... rich and extracted in style. Palate delivers smokey dark cherry and plum, with cocoa shavings engulfed in vanilla and baking spices. Think cherry jubilee with vanilla bean ice cream. Tannins have softened and are balanced beautifully with elegant acidity. Rich and opulent. This is winter time fireside wine - pair with dark chocolate mousse. Drink now with a splash decant. — 7 years ago
