Château La Nerthe

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2020

Château dates back to 1560, records suggesting back to 12th century making it one of oldest estates in the heart of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape AOC region near Avignon. Ruby with aromas of red fruit. Blend of about even amounts Grenache, Syrah, Mouvèdre & splash of mostly Cinsault. Aromas of berry fruits, oak & sweet spice. On the palate flavors of raspberry, cherry & blackberry, hints of oak, leather, vanilla spice & black pepper, aged in 20% new oak, complex & elegant, fine soft tannins, long finish, will age well. — 12 days ago

Cayuse Vineyards

Flying Pig Cabernet Franc Blend

What a beauty. Has that signature Cayuse funk on the nose. I would be happy just to smell this wine. Black fruit. Beautifully balanced. A serious wine with a silly label. — 8 months ago

Ruffino

Riserva Ducale Chianti Classico Sangiovese Blend 2019

In 1877, Illario and Leopoldo Ruffino laid the foundations of their dream to make Italian wines from the heart of Tuscany. Medium Ruby red color with aromas of dark berry fruit and earthy spice, blend of 80% Sangiovese with rest Merlot and Cab Sauv. On the palate flavors of black cherry and plum with tobacco, pepper and earthy cedar notes. Full-bodied, well balanced soft drying tannins on a smooth medium+ finish. Grab some Italian food and enjoy the great value wine. Consistent quality, a Fav!! — 8 months ago

Not too earthy. 2017 had in 2024. With Chinese food. — 2 months ago

Sullivan Vineyards

Heart of the Vineyard Red Blend 2012

Really a lovely Bordeaux style blend from Sullivan in Napa. I am biased as I spent a summer working there. Quite seamless, some nice cassis, has really come into balance. Bit of that very nice menthol laced acid refreshing note on the finish. Delicious and wonderful pairing with steaks on the grill. — 5 months ago

Dry Finger Lakes Riesling 2020

Light golden color. Nice hint of petrol right out of the bottle. Additional aromas and flavors of peach, nectarine, green apple, pineapple, honey and an intense lime note. A pleasant sour note on the finish. Bold, fruit forward and round with excellent mouthfeel. Crisp, but just a bit short on acidity. — 8 months ago

Saxum Vineyards

Heart Stone Vineyard Syrah Blend

Phenomenal balance Syrah character dominates, lush perfume and rich dark fruit. Crushed after a 30 min decant, could have used a lil more development time but too delicious to complain about how it was consumed — 3 years ago

Flying Goat Cellars

Clos Pepe Vineyard Goat Bubbles Blanc de Noirs Pinot Noir 2016

At Flying Goat, the goal is to produce unpretentious, playful wines while retaining a serious quality focus and commitment to a purity of expression from single-vineyard sites such as the Solomon Hills Vineyard, Bien Nacido Vineyard, Rancho Santa Rosa, to name a few.

This intention is reinforced by everything from the whimsical labels (Flying Goat, Goat Bubbles, YNOT), to the critical acclaim Flying Goat Cellars has garnered for its impressive wines, to the impeccably balanced and delicious Pinot Noir and vintage, traditional method sparkling wines.

This 2016 blanc de noirs sparkler — made with Pinot Noir hailing from the Bien Nacido Vineyard — is medium gold in appearance, with a fine and creamy mousse, and fresh notes of just-ripe yellow apple, pear, white peach, lemon zest, citrus blossom, biscuit, toast, brioche, toasted almond, and marzipan. It has a lingering, elegant finish.

Bodegas Juan Gil

18 meses Jumilla Monastrell Blend 2020

Began 1916, when Juan Gil Giménez, great-grandfather of the present generation, built a winery in heart of Jumilla. Blue label spent 18 months in new French and American oak barrels. Monastrell, Cab Sauv & Syrah blend (60/30/10), low yield, aromas of red berry and toasty oak. Palate shows flavors of dark berry fruits, espresso, cacao and hints of sweet spice. Round dusty tannins, well integrated with oak, medium+ finish ending with fruit and rich earthy oaky character. Nice! — a year ago
