Another reminder of criminally undervalued Etna wines are in both quality and price. Ashey light red fruit with some spice notes carry from sip to finish. Silky smooth and elegant a real winner from Franchetti that is drinking beautifully right now. Grapes grown on 70-100 year vines at altitude with a little πππ magic thrown in for good measure. β 7 years ago
2014 is 70% PV, 30% Cesanese dβAffile. His TΓͺte de cuvΓ©e. rich ripe unctuous on the nose. really extracted. Itβs good, itβs a bit hot but it also needs time. black fruits itβs well made- just not my thing. β 4 years ago
Interesting blend from Franchetti wineyards on Etna slopes. Style is a little bit too mineral for me. β 8 years ago
Wow. 120 euros. Blend 50/50. β 11 years ago
Considering what a hard on Franchetti has for powerhouse Bordeaux, itβs a welcome surprise that his Etna wines are so lean and transparent. Curious what is the prime drinking window for these, what is gained with a few more years and what is compromised.

Delicious wine, a bit tight dominated with with red and blue fruits, but nice savory notes of Provential herbs, with medium plus tannins. β 10 years ago

Nose is open and full on fruit. Palate beautifully balanced and poised, hinting Napa, but more fresh, more juicy and more bite. Mineral and earthy elements starting too emerge.
Start drinking them NOW. And in the next ten years.
Thank you so much for this wine, Mr. Franchetti ππ» β 3 years ago
