Full Moon Brewwork

Spottswoode

Family Estate Grown St. Helena Cabernet Sauvignon 2005

2005 vintage. From magnum. Tasted after 3 hours open. Light-medium body. Drought earth. Coffee grounds. Espresso crema. Dark plum skins. Drinking excellent but like a Napa cab a decade older. And from a magnum!?!? Was expecting a bit more of a delicate fruit presence. Oh well. It was a full moon. 04.11.25. — a year ago

Celebrating the full moon and the latest Ocean Reserve release. Didn’t get the new one yet, so we pulled this 2012 out of the cellar. Still a thing of great beauty. — 4 years ago

Quarter Moon Vineyard Pinot Noir 2012

It’s full. Thick. You can tell a cab producer makes this. There’s some black pepper, blackberry, lots of black fruit. It’s silky with faint tannin and goes down well. — 5 years ago

Estate Grown Sonoma Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Ready to kick ass and take names. This wine is brilliant. Nose of blackberry, chocolate, iodine, flint. Full bodied palate of youthful and thick black fruit, espresso bean, almond, hint of licorice, hint of mint. Finishes with a slightly tame acidity, black pepper and still fairly youthful tannin. This wine doesn't seem like it has aged much at all. For a 2012, does not taste anywhere close to 6 years post vintage. Moon mountain fruit is hard to beat when done well. This wine is a 'must have' in your cellar. Went really well with turkey dumpling soup! — 8 years ago

On the nose; ruby, dark cassis, blackberries, black raspberries, black plum, plum, cinnamon, vanilla, mocha, caramel, dark chocolate, sweet tarry notes, black pepper, black olive, loamy dry clay & top soil, beautiful lavender and violets.

The body is full and beautiful. The palate tannins are; round, meaty and chewy, but much softer than the 15 Syrah. Fruits are; ruby, dark cassis, blackberries, black raspberries, black plum, cherries, strawberries & plum, Cinnamon, vanilla, mocha, caramel, dark chocolate, sweet tarry notes, black pepper, black olive, chewy leather, dry stones, loamy dry clay & top soil, some dry crushed rock powder, beautiful lavender and violets. The acidy is nice & round, the long, beautiful, round, ripe, ruby, elegant finish is nicely polished.

Photos of; another photo walking their property with the Foxtails in full bloom. Estate Syrah grapes and an old large Chilean oak barrel they acquired from a winery they purchased adjacent to their property. Its doors open up as shown in the bottom photo. Inside it tells their tale of biodynamic moon cycle practices.

Lanzarote Malvasia Seco 2020

This wine is straw colored and star bright. Incredibly aromatic on the nose; lemon peel, honey, honeysuckle, some volcanic rock and oak. It's juicy, full of green apples, meyer lemon, a bit of almond, and apricot. It's a very crisp wine; acid is mouth watering and makes you want to take another sip. On the finish I get a bit of smoke and spiciness. The palate is lush with the middle being a bit watery, but the finish is long and herbaceous. It's my understanding that the conditions here are liken to growing grapes on the moon. The concentration of flavors and aromas seem to reflect this! — 4 years ago

Okanagan Valley Syrah

Thought we would crack open this tasty Moon Curser Syrah to go with our steak and veggies. Dark and inky describes the colour, the nose was decent, followed by a jammy full long lasting finish. I’d definitely recommend grabbing a bottle or 2! — 8 years ago

Most beautiful of plumb reds. Full bodied and smooth. Taste of Blackberry and currant. Sweet smell of plumb and fig. Very complex feel with Smokey backend. Very happy with this Cali Cab. Exactly what I look for from a mountain side vineyard in Sonoma! — 4 years ago
