2024/1 with garbure. Starts off quite dark and a bit inexpressive, with dense tannin, some oak and a twist of bitterness - but a couple of days later it really opened to reveal some lovely dark fruit, underbrush and a hint of game. — 10 months ago
A distinct sparkling golden hue in the glass with highly active bubbles. The nose is mature and instantly pleasant. Apple aromas aplenty. Nice citrus notes with a bit of umami. Brioche and grapefruit.
Special Club champagnes are just special. This is no exception. A classically styled champagne in all aspects, equal parts baronial and fun. Well balanced with a low dosage and slightly zippy acidity. Honey and butter on the tongue with yellow fruits. More and more apples with a dash of dried herbs. Still has many more years to go before it hits its prime.

Lovely aperitif, pairs well with cheese and fruit, best served very chilled to help balance the acidity. — 5 months ago

Paired with steak au poivre. Some sediment even after decanting. Wine is pepper and tobacco on the nose (no that wasn't the steak). Picked up some blackberry jam and chocolate and coffee on the nose after it opened up. Taste was jammy and peppery with a strong tannin bite. Thought it got more deep and complex as it sat. Paired really well, would drink again, wife didn't mind it despite not being a Merlot fan. — 2 months ago
