Nice chilled red/white blend — 9 months ago
@Delectable Wine this is the Vinha Senna white blend.
Blend of Bical & Encruzado
Nicely aromatic, with a round, yellow stone fruit profile. Plus a pinch of dried herbs, some sea salt. Rounded yet quite savoury. And fresh.
Beautiful mouthfeel - medium body, a hint of creaminess, a slightly savoury, tannic touch to the purity of yellow fruit. And, in the long finish, the salty minerality shines through.
This has very nice depth & tension.

Smooth and balanced. Enjoyable with and without food, which is something that not all wines from Dão do. — 6 years ago

Gary’s wine. Good. Nothing to write home about but may have liked these better than the others. — 6 months ago
Ew and used oak. Veel sap in de geur. Open. Dao can age very well. Graniet, heel geparfumeerd. Als hij een tijdje openstaat wordt hij nog hartiger. — a year ago
Interesting blend, not as heavy as Touriga, so easier to drink. Liked it with roast lamb. — 2 years ago
Media Serra Dao Jaen 2018

Medium-deep ruby color.
Aromas of stewed strawberry, raspberry, clove.

What a great medium bodied wine. Super balance and highly drinkable. Reminded me of a great Cru Beaujolais. — 5 years ago
Beautiful earthy red.... raspberry, mulberry, candied cherry and eucalyptus with mineral earthiness that just close the deal. A bit brief but Casa Américo has accomplish a wanderful expression of the Jaén ( mencia ) under appreciated grape ... it does benefit from decanting and a temperature around 14 Celsius. — 6 years ago

A medium bodied red from the Jaen (aka Mencia) grape. Quite aromatic with more red fruit than black, a touch of cloves, mint. A bit of turned earth and tree bark. Fresh & quite enticing. Quite Gamay like.
Quite light bodied on the palate, with juicy acidity and nice purity of fruit. Tart, with a slightly bitter note, raspberry & cranberry with a herby finish. Nice length quite a bit of depth. — a year ago
Had this at chef Avillez’s Bairro in Lisbon’s Chiado neighborhood. First time trying a Dao DOC wine, and it was splendid. Medium bodied, dark fruit and peppery. A nice contrast to the lighter vino verde’s I’ve had a lot of in Portugal. A bottle of this in front of me would be dangerous. — 3 years ago
