Burt Williams' Morning Dew Ranch Pinot Noir 2011

Happy Heavenly Birthday Sofia! Love & Miss You Like Air! 😇 All Souls Day as well.

Williams Selyem if not her favorite producer, one of her top two.

I don’t believe I have opened a bad bottle of this producer, not even corked. I guess it’s because I wait ten yrs or longer to open. These shine later in their evolution.

Nose of; red & slightly candied florals, strawberries, dark cherries blackberries, raspberries and haunting blueberries. Lightly grilled meats, cola, sandalwood, baking spices and very soft herbaceous notes.

This in typical WS fashion shows ripe & lush; slightly sour, dark cherries, blackberries, plum, poached strawberries, raspberries, pomegranate and circling blueberries. Excellent mid, dark spices, clove, some nutmeg, cinnamon & vanillin, light dryish tobacco, lightly grilled, smoked meats, dry crushed rocks, limestone marl, dry river stone, underbrush, mix of some fresh but mostly dry herbs, eucalyptus/mint, fresh to withering dark, red flowers framed in liquid violets, near perfect acidity with a well balanced, nicely structured, good tensioned finish that lasts nearly two-minutes and lands on spice & dry earthiness.

Vista Verde Vineyard Pinot Noir 2008

2008 vintage. Decanted for an hour before tasting. Didn't even know WS was in the Central Coast game in this area at this time period. Beyond decent earthiness. Light-medium body. Hint of menthol. Could successfully stroll out and about distinctively for another 3-4 years. — 2 years ago

Château Léoville Barton

Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

2016 vintage. Those classic Leoville-Barton feminine stylings. Light/light-medium body. Delicate and soft but with enough concentration to do the usual LB dance...gliding along for decades with almost imperceptible drop off/loss. There are going to be a bunch of WS readers that pick this up and find themselves disappointed since it never plays the heavy and expected. Embrace the subtle side of life. — 4 years ago

Another property I have been.

These normally take some time before showing well. But this 21 was one of the top 10 in the 70 or so I tasted. Showing nicely & quite beautiful. 95-97 aged appropriately.

Cherries and raspberries, oh my. A WS that drinks well without much age. Paired this one with roasted chicken. Nice way to end a weekend. — 3 years ago

La Rioja Alta

Reserva Viña Ardanza Rioja Tempranillo Garnacha 2017

WS: 93. Baked cherry, raspberry ganache and warm fig flavors are ripe and expressive, with a pleasing counterpoint and added detail from rich notes of loamy earth and leather, plus accents of bay leaf, vanilla and red licorice. There's a supple generosity on the palate, trimmed nicely by fine-grained tannins and a tang of orange peel acidity. Tempranillo and Garnacha. Drink now through 2032. 35,000 cases made, 9,000 cases imported.
