This estate was bought in 2013 by the Cuvelier family (Clos Fourtet and Poujeaux), but the previous owner Sophie Fourcade already made great efforts to improve the wines. This 2018 features a deep red colour, a flamboyant perfume with truffle, red fruit and flowers. Concentrated, with layers of red fruit and spices and a serious tannic structure. Good length too. As this estate (promoted to Grand Cru Classé in the 2012 classification) is still very much under the radar it is great value and worth seeking out for less than 25 euros. — 3 years ago

A Bordeaux wine totally free from Bordeaux references and "folklore" for our greatest pleasure. Superb expression of terroir and fruit, under the label "vin de France" Attack and body full of freshness and vivacity. Noble material in the mouth. Drying finish again, it is to be put in the cellar.

From farfar’s cellar. Opened with Will and Monika and Kalen and Hugo. Tough to get the cork out but I did a yeomans job. Developing very well over time, started a bit astringent on the finish but now showing much more structure. Beautiful. — 9 months ago

2019 vintage. Tasted alongside Poujeaux 2019, this Belgrave seems more powerful and more extracted. More gentle extractions seem to suit the vintage better, therefore I rate the Poujeaux a little higher. But this is still a very good wine and terrific value as it is dumped in supermarkets at 20,90 euros. They don't seem to have much faith in their Grand Cru Classé status... — 3 years ago
