Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.
Pretty nose with black fruits, cedar, licorice, light vanilla, tobacco, chocolates and black pepper.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with black currants, plums, cooked cherries, spices, oak, licorice, dark chocolates, light earth, coffee, herbs and peppercorn.
Long finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.
This is a delicious Grenache blend from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Fruit forward and easy drinking. Nicely balanced and interesting. Rich, yet elegant.
Good right out of the bottle, and better with airtime.
Still young, and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly, but already very approachable. The high alcohol is well integrated.
Will continue to age nicely in the next 15 years. Has good potential to become a 94 point wine.
Good by itself as a sipping wine or with food.
A blend of 75% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 10% Mourvedre, 3% Counoise and 2% Vaccarese. Aged in (20% new) large French oak barrels.
15.5% alcohol by volume.

Zeer lekkere wijn, mooie afdronk, niet bombastisch of explosief.

1997 vintage. A nice surprise in a vintage that was not highly regarded. Today, the 1997 outshined the 2000 La Tour de Bessan. Wonderful tasting with Marie-Laure Lurton, who kindly opened older vintages of La Tour de Bessan and Villegeorge. Unfortunately the 1961 Villegeorge was corked but one could tell the structure of the wine,it should be great from a good bottle. — 6 days ago

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a couple of hours. The 2021 pours a deep purple color with an opaque core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of ripe dark fruits: blackberries, dark cherry, plums, purple flowers, cocoa, organic earth and warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium. A crowd pleaser to drink now but with enough substance to enjoy through 2036. — 13 days ago
