In the early 1850s the first significant vineyards were planted in Sonoma. Over the next half century, through a rigorous process of trial and error, the components were narrowed to four distinct varieties – petite Sarah, Zinfandel, Carignane , and Alicante Bouschet– each demonstrating extraordinary quality. Ravenswood ICON is a revival of this traditional “native Sonoma mixed blacks“ blend produced from old, low production, vineyards planted before Prohibition and is a tribute to Sonoma County’s incredible ancient vines. 14.8% ABV. — a year ago
Much more tannic than most pinots, with a bit more than normal acidity. I think it it needs more fruit in the mouthfeel. But when it opens up, all is forgiven. — 6 years ago
One of my favorite Kosta Pinots! Very long on the finish. — 8 years ago
Fruit forward but dry enough. Very unique — 8 years ago
Not one to drink a lot of white wine but this is a very well balanced wine . Good fruit, acids, minerality , and a bit of cream on the finish. Definitely a great white wine — 3 months ago
Still one of my fav pinots from the states. Terra de promisso delivers a good grape. Loved the slight spice to this. — 9 months ago
Belle Glos Pinots are great. Full bodied bigger Pinots perfect for cab drinkers like me :) — 7 years ago
We’re tasting Pinots today and this was the overall favorite, although Darioush was a close runner up. Also tasted were Morey-St-Denis, chateau de la greffiere, stoller, and chehalem. Great afternoon. Loved the nose, the color, and the depth. — 8 years ago
Lot to like about this wine. Very crowd pleasing in style. — 8 years ago
A 50/50 blend of Pinot Noir and (Pinot) Meunier; mostly sourced from the 2011 vintage (40%) with the balance from 2010 and 2009.
Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a few hours. The C. de Pinots NV pours a straw color with a persistent mousse. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of ripe apple, toasted brioche, split almonds and lemon bar and spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. The DNA is there and showing a slightly more oxidative style. Drink now. Disgorged July 2016. — 5 months ago
Cherry cordials on the nose, cherries, earthy and herbal to taste, warm alcohol and slight spice on the finish, unexpected flavor but enjoyable. Great for price, stands up to California Pinots in its own way. — 7 years ago
Generally I pass on California Pinots, however this one is well worth the time — 8 years ago
