San Andreas Fault Pinot Noir 2021

Very cherry driven almost over the top. Raspberry and a touch of crushed marble. Definitely a wine which will please. But it lacks the earthiness of the 2016. Super juicy. Low %. Overall this is a nice example of a CA Pinot - which just wants to please unfortunately to much ….and perhaps trying to be a burgh in the process - but this vintage ain’t it. — 4 days ago

Buntsandstein Pinot Noir 2015

One can’t really make Pinot better than this. The Buntsandstein aka - colored Sand Stone. Is really a benchmark wine. One can debate the the style but not really the quality. 2015 was a stand out vintage. This comes from old vines. The wine is alive and talks. Yes talks to you:… Kirsch, almonds, crushed marble, black forest thyme, hint orange zest, touch oregano, … this goes on and on as more flavors evolve with air. The wine will probably age another 5-10 years.
An experience really! But not for the middle of the road „ let’s have a Pinot drinker“ - they will be disappointed ☹️.

I think this will outlast the 15’ Muschelkalk from E&M which is more delicate. One of the main issues the wine is hard to come by. Sometimes only 3 barrels are made. Next day eucalyptus and dried figs.

Muschelkalk Pinot Noir 2017

Addictive and absolutely stunning. Super elegant and lean when compared to the Buntsandstein from E&M. Ethereal cherry 🍒 light as air. Crushed Marble. Essentially like a Premier Cru Chambolle Musigny from the slopes of the black forest. Tannin’s fully resolved. Drink Up!!!! I would not keep this longer. From here on out it will loose its luster. — a year ago

Vermentino Nero Toscano IGT 2023

Sure, it’s from Tuscany, but this is really an alpine wine, because it’s from the NW corner of Tuscany. Not often I taste a new varietal, but here it is from minuscule hectares. An hour or two decant + really lets it shine: small dark berries, currants, marble notes. 12.5% abv. My kind of wine. A 9.4 on the last glass with a moderately more voluptuous body & the small berry thing more of a thing. — 14 days ago

Chambolle Musigny Pinot Noir

Dark big and tannic. Too extracted for a Chambolle. Can go another 10 years. Excellent flavor profile, tea black mostly, dark cherries, boysenberry, crushed marble. Very very good. 13.5%. — 8 months ago

Liaison Pinot Noir 2016

Cleaning out my cellar for a move or at least reduce what i have. All 3 E&M‘s 14,15,16 Liaisons should be consumed within 30 minutes upon opening they are good to go drink up! Within 2 hours they loose appeal. I stand corrected - this one went through a down phase and then came back after 24 hours. The freshest and brightest of my recent trifecta of E&M and also the most pale. Still quite tannic. Touch peach? Sour raspberry, hint lime 🍋‍🟩. Crushed marble. Quite acidic. The 14 was the clear winner. In all cases the cork was quite soft and almost all the way moist to the top. — 4 months ago
