Began in 1944, Mario Incisa acquired Cab Sauv & Franc vine cuttings, planted them on San Guido estate, called Castiglioncello, Sassicaia, "the place of many stones". A blend of 85% Cab Sauv, 15% Cab Franc. Lovely ripe fruit & spice aromas. Bold berry fruit flavors with spice, oak, leather & cacao, a powerhouse. Soft tannins allows current enjoyment. Long silky smooth fresh finish ending with fruit, oak and spice. Great now, will age, but drink now, outstanding. Little pricey at $300. Tasting Sample. — 2 years ago
Fantastic chilled red. Super drinkable. Would be great for summer BBQs. — 4 years ago
Opened and let the wine breathe while our roast cooked. Aromas of dark berries that linger after a sip. Good tannin structure and acidity. Would cellar nicely. Went well with our beef pot roast. — 4 months ago
Graceful #yamhillcarlton #oregon #pinotnoir. For a 12 year-old Pinot, first day impression was it drank quite young. Second day the age shows a bit more with some initial oxidative funk that melts away revealing a still youthful and lithe core. Alluring Burgundian nose with layers of cherry, limestone, forest floor, kola nut, faint white mushroom. Throughly enjoyable palate with pleasingly plush texture, energetic acidity, sweet tobacco and long pepper on the finish. Gossamer tannins build on the palate after the inevitable repeated sips - this feels like a QPR benchmark for Oregon Pinots. — 3 years ago
